Iâm not from London. But my wife and I have been staying in the area over the past five months. Hence my observations are from several visits over this past period.
Over a variety of times the following trends emerged: -Nothing is accessible! No wheelchair access and consideration of mobility challenged individuals. A person with a walker would be challenged to access the place. Why is this acceptable?
-Unengaged staff. Hardly ever a smile or conversation-and it wasnât because it was busy. -Slowest coffee making baristas ever. 7 minutes for an americano and I was the only one ordering. I always ordered an americano. Coffee was lukewarm at best. Hard to tell why there were three staff making coffee -Absolutely lousy seating arrangements. The row of tables across from the bar are always occupied by individual people who seem to have an entitled ability to occupy the seat for as long they want. Yes they had ordered a coffee at some time but most of our time there these individuals were done their coffee and on their laptops when we got there and still there when we left 30-45 minutes later. We witnessed couples or groups of three come in and look around and wait for a table to open up but never got one and left. Solution-turn off the free wifi! -Staff were busy often cleaning counters and washing glasses but NEVER did we see any one wipe a table or mop up a floor area.
I read the reviews before going the first time and thought my first visit in September was a one off bad experience. It turns out it was the norm and this is now January. Iâll need to be...
Read more*You continue to Assume. I was not only Ashamed but disgusted of how we were treated. I have lived in Old South for 20 years even attended South Secondary School here in Old South and have NEVER experienced anything remotely close to this. The staff specifically the female employee who attended us was condescending and rude at every stage as we entered when ordering and when sitting aside while waiting for our meal. We ran inside escaping the light rain, as we were pulling out our masks we were told to put them on. Without any excuses or buts we quickly did so never the less the hostility continued. Going as far as assuming we were unvaccinated (vaccine passport mandate were dropped two weeks ago) while waiting aside for our meal. It is evident that we were judged and stereotyped being treated with disrespect. The last comment from the female barista to our group âwe donât want your type of people hereâ we were the only ethnic group in the cafe. I am not surprised to see other reviews of individuals who have felt the same way. It is evident that I will never go back to this cafe nor recommend it to any of my family and friends.
A response is unnecessary as the manager had enough opportunities to do so rather took the side of his employee.
*YOU clearly missed the message. It was the delivery Not about reenforcing the rules or of having different point of views.
FYI YOU continue to assume when you say I have made âthree accountsâ I only have this account my cousins (who were present) have the same last name. I guess thatâs...
Read moreToday (Sun. Feb. 25. 2024) marked our first and final visit to this coffee shop. Our hopes for a delightful pastry indulgence at 2 PM were dashed when we found their selection depleted, save for one lonely pastry. The cashierâs response to our inquiry about the pastries was dishearteningly sarcastic, setting a less-than-welcoming tone for our inaugural experience.
Opting to try their guac toast after seeing another patron enjoy it, we were taken aback by the 10-minute wait time for a seemingly simple dish. Expressing our surprise only garnered more sarcasm and a dismissive remark about the usual tardiness of their food preparation process. Itâs disheartening when even a straightforward request for a menu item feels like an inconvenience.
A quick glance at other reviews confirms that our encounter was not an isolated incident but rather a recurring theme. Itâs a shame that such lackluster service appears to be the norm here. Needless to say, we wonât be returning. For those in search of exceptional coffee and service, we recommend looking elsewhere. As for management, perhaps addressing customer concerns with genuine care rather than dismissive responses would be a more...
