We booked a private dining room during the Thanksgiving Brunch buffet of 2023.
Our party of 12 was placed in the Whiskey room which was elegantly decorated with antiques, had a beautiful mantel, and seasonal decor like ceramic pumpkins. It is very suitable for intimate, special occasions. We were able to enjoy the room for 2.5 hours. There are lots of lovely spots for photos inside the room, and around the inn (stairwell) and outside of the inn (including the courtyard).
The buffet itself had an assortment of brunch and Thanksgiving classics, like waffles, eggs Benedict, salmon, turkey with all the fixings, and more. It was a decent value for the higher cost and atmosphere of the Whiskey room.
Coffee and tea were available at an extra cost (unlike their standard breakfast buffet where it is included). We were also able to order non-alcoholic mimosas which were served in lovely flutes.
We had a very attentive server assigned to our room named Jennifer who made sure we were well taken care of. Be sure to sign up for their loyalty program to get rewards on your spending here.
The Turret room is also available for private booking, and we did have a chance to dine there during their standard breakfast buffets. This room is nice with lots of windows, but not completely private (no door) and has less artistic details/decor than the...

After comparing a few brunch places in the region, we came to Idlewyld Inn Restaurant. It's not a buffet-style brunch, but a more curated selection of brunch items that we don't see too often.
In terms of creativity and taste, we enjoyed this MUCH more than Langdon Hall.
Brunch comes with scones and a selection of spreads: orange marmalade, blueberry, and Devonshire Cream.
Appetizers were Watermelon Salad and Chorizo Sausage Scotch Eggs. The Watermelon Salad was light and refreshing, but so small! The Scotch Eggs had a great contrast in texture, and was definitely intriguing to eat.
Entrees were Scallop & Crab Stuffed Sole and Beef Tenderloin Hash. The sole was quite balanced in flavour, while the beef tenderloin hash was too strong (especially salty). It was nice, but without extra bread or starch to counter-balance the taste, it was too much to finish.
Overall, it was quite an enjoyable meal. If you are looking to fill your stomach at a continental breakfast, this is not the right place. But if you want to try something more unique but also more pricey, we would highly recommend this.
Would we come back? Yes.
Should you try? If within your budget and looking for...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to go here for dinner for a nice night out. The place is very dated in decor. I would refer to the plastic grapes along the bar in front of the wine that is displayed for some reason. The young host/ bar tender was very nice however the drink orders took 20 minutes to get to the table. It appeared like the older bar tender behind the bar was struggling to keep up. We sat at the table for 30 minutes before the server even addressed us. They did not apologize for the delay or ask how we are doing. He just wanted to take our order and move on. It took another 20 minutes for the appetizers and another 30 minutes for the mains. The food is very dated. Everything seems to be over done. 20 ingredients in every dish. The salad was under dressed. The French onion soup was salty. We asked them to box up the desserts after being there for two hours. This place seems to be in desperate need for an overhaul and a new menu. The staff did not appear to like each other and we witnessed a number of negative staff interactions in front of us. We ate the apple tart dessert when we got home. We believe they took them out of the fridge and tossed them on a to go bag as they were cold. Very disappointed...
