I should have known - no mushy peas is an indication of the seriousness of a good fish and chip restaurant. I had a take out order of Haddock and Chips for two (Friday, June 1 2017) based largely on reviews from this web site.

The chips were not made in-store and were the "battered" style, which is certainly not traditional for Fish and Chips. The fish itself was tasty and the portion was adequate, but the bottom of the fish was over-battered, with the inside portion of the batter not completely cooked through.

I decided to give this place a try largely based on positive reviews as I mentioned, and the fact that there it has a 5-Star rating. This store is not close to Oldies (Olde London Fish & Chips) which we have used many times. I just wanted to find a good place a little closer to home, and this was not it! My rating is only a 1-Star for the tastiness...

I order from Mother Hubbards multiple times a week. Often ordering Soup & Chef salad. There’s a couple things that I always change about my order or add extras like salad dressing or more crackers. When I have forgotten to mention in special instructions they always make it the exact way I like and send everything. The food is so so good and always fresh. Great Prices too. I order through UBER all the time and not once have I ordered from here and the order be messed up or the food not good. My family and I have tried just about everything on the menu and There’s not 1 thing we don’t Love! I Hope this restaurant stays open forever because I’m not sure what I’d do without my soup and Chef Salad a few times a week haha. Eggs Benedict is also a Big Favorite of mine. Wow! Worst place ever!! Today, Feb. 8 at 1145 am, I walked in and sat down. Extremely rude owner was just sitting at counter looking at his phone, no greeting or eye contact. He did not acknowledge me waiting for menu or a drink. He finally brought me a menu, but was still rude. I wasn't offered a drink. Stupid me, that should have been my clue to walk out but I looked at menu, then was ready to order. I kept observing him but he could care less I was there. Sat there for 10 min and all he did was stare down at his phone and ignore me. It baffles me there are so many good reviews. It disgusts me that this guy is an actual business owner. No professionalism, etiquette or people skills. Would not recommend this place!! Very disappointing, makes you feel like an outsider being...
