We stopped for an early dinner shortly before 5 one Sunday. We were told to sit anywhere, and asked for the patio. The server said she was really busy, but she'd be out in a minute. 10 minutes later, we were standing to leave, and she came out laughing 'Oh, I forgot all about you!' She brought menus and took our drink order, then asked 'did you look at the menu? - Oh - no - sorry, I just gave them to you! I'm really busy today - short staffed!' We had a clear sight of the door and 3 or 4 tables were occupied inside and only perhaps 3 walk in orders (that waited in the parking lot for as long as we did). She brought out coffee (cold) and took our food order. We waited over 20 minutes, and when she brought out my fries they DIDN'T have gravy. She said she'd brew a fresh pot and bring out more coffee. (We never saw more coffee). By the time I flagged her down again, to ask for vinegar, another customer had sat down, waited for about 10 minutes, then left. She DID take the time to run out to delivery a pick up order to a car full of dogs, and spent 3-5 minutes chatting with the dogs and owner before returning inside. She laughed at the customer leaving stating 'oh, was he waiting for me? Oh well!' When our bill was rung up, she charged me for the wrong thing (Buffalo Shrimp and Fries). I corrected her, noting a price difference. She argued that Shrimp and Fries WERE the same price as Buffalo Fries - and then went to the menu to prove me wrong. She was wrong, so she cancelled the wrong item and REDID IT, but then said 'Good think I looked, I forgot to charge for the iced tea!'.
Food - not terrible. Service - horrific. I waitressed for a decade, and was often the only server with a dozen or more tables and NEVER neglected people in this way. It is completely unprofessional to laugh at angry customers, to more than once admit to have forgotten a client, and to promise coffee or items NEVER to deliver them. We...
Read moreDined at this place on the long weekend and sadly cannot recommend this place. First, we had to wait a while before they cleaned the table to seat us. The waitress seemed nice but uneducated how to do her job. She brought a bunch of loose cutlery and placed it down on the outside patio table. I understand that they wipe it, but its still not sanitized to be placing forks and knives on it. She also brought one plate for the entire pizza. I asked her to bring more because we would be sharing the pizza amongst our group. But what really bothered me was how long we had to wait for our food, and when it finally came, the pizza was cold. I don't understand why they waited so long to bring our pizza, it wasn't necessary to bring all our orders at once. If the pizza was ready, they should have brought it straight away. Also one of the dishes was over fried and wasn't edible, but they kindly took it off the bill since we couldn't eat it. Out of all our dishes, I would say that the spinach artichoke dip was the best, since it was warm. I understand that they were busy, but being brought a cold pizza after waiting so long is not acceptable, especially if they are called 'Squires Pizza". Also the washrooms didn't seem maintained since the soap and toilet paper dispenser were empty. My suggestion is that they train their waitresses correctly. First bring the drinks, then the cutlery, enough for each guest and cutlery, should be wrapped in napkins, and placed on top of the plates, and not carry condiments in their apron's pocket. And if they are that busy they should consider hiring more staff. I really wanted to like this restaurant, because it's a cute retro style restaurant, but sadly it didn't reach my expectations. Not sure if we...
Read moreHad a wonderful meal (pizza and wing combo) at Squires however the service was, to say the least; very disappointing, especially in light of the fact that it was not busy during our visit. Ordered 2 beers and they were dropped on the table, no glasses and no request if we wanted any. Ordered two more beers mid-meal but only received one of them. The waitress walked by our table a number of times and we finally asked if the other one could be brought to the table. Wings brought with no bowl or plates for discards and when the pizza came out, we had to ask for plates. Our waitress came back to ask how the food was but did not collect the empty beer bottles, left at the end of table for her, so the table was left cluttered. These are all very simple things that by themselves aren't too big of a deal, but do affect the overall customer experience. It could very well be that our server was new to her position and that she was not fully trained - but standard table service practices should be a part of training, if they aren't already, to ensure the "customer service" experience is consistent and does not overshadow the fact that the food is really good. We haven't given up yet and will go back again and would recommend this establishment to family...
