This would score higher had I not had so much experience to reference when they first opened. There has been a noticeable decline in the quality of service. It's not bad, it's just average and that's a real shame. I promoted the hell out of this place based solely on how stellar the reception was. My last 4 visits were not unpleasant or unfriendly, but rather were a very sterile "hi, what will you have, here's your order number...." nothing to complain about if you hadn't a wonderful welcome to compare it to. Nothing that would keep me from saying it's one of the best Mediterranean places I've been to and possibly even one of my favourite restaurants in London.
Really well priced, offering excellent value. Two people can leave very sated for under 30 dollars unless they're gluttonous. The ambiance is great. Tasteful but unassuming. Comfortable, well lit, quiet, good appropriate music and so, so clean. Nitpicky for sure, but the bathrooms have the hand dryer. No one likes the hand dryer. As for location, lots of free parking and convenient to get to. Close to other amenities so it's a great place to grab something while you're out and about. They offer online ordering, so that would be convenient for pick up whilst doing errands as well. I have not used it so I can't speak to it.
As for the food. Even if every other thing I said was negative I'd still say you should go. The food is excellent. It's like in Seinfeld where you might have asked "how good could the soup be to make the soup Nazi tolerable?" yeah, this food is that good. Great portion sizes, flavours are bright and rich. Everything is fresh. It's really good. I think I've tried almost everything and have not found anything bad. I will say it's home to the world's okayist baklava. Not bad at all, but absolutely nothing to recommend. I've found comparable in grocery stores.
I can say you should go and you'll have a great experience. I say this place is excellent. I can also say if you didn't go when it when it first opened you missed out on the best attitude and customer service I've experienced. I once described it is as an absolutely must go. I'd stop short of that now, but still feel like you should go. Or maybe I'd say you must get it, but get...
Read moreSo I have been getting Tahini multiple times over the last 5-6 years. I loved their food, it had great taste and their portions and prices were amazing for the food they gave. But recently, especially today I got food from Tahini, it was a bowl with half salad and half fries with chicken on top and the hummus, garlic, turnip, tomato and cabbage. It was so flavourless that I kinda felt gross while eating it. The fries were not crunchy at all, which I have noticed has started happening with their food. It no longer gives that FRESH, just made feeling. The chicken and salad had no flavour besides the natural own flavour. There’s no seasoning besides salt. Their hummus and garlic used to be my favourite topic, but now they are both bland. Like what are these guys doing. Instead of getting better, they are getting worse. And I dont know who their package designer is, but the new crazy amount of red and purple blue colour that they have hurts the eyes. Before when it was just a bit of red everywhere it looked really good, but now they have colour everywhere, on the screens of menu, and it just isn’t a good look. The restaurant also feels so cold, as if im sitting in a factory. There’s no smell of food cooking like they use to have, and its turning into McDonald’s at this point with how cold and flavourless it is. Actually McDonald’s tastes better. I noticed the changes over the last 2ish years specifically, and I just dont like it anymore. This order sealed the deal. They no longer put heart and soul into their food, its bland and a huge waste of money since the prices are...
Read moreWe have been getting take out from Tahinis since it opened at the Fanshawe location. We've always loved it and have recommended it to many people. We have always ordered the exact same bowl every time. We were just there last week, but when we phoned to get delivery this week, they told us they no longer serve any of the same dishes. I asked them when they changed their menu as we just ate from there last week. He said that whoever gave us the deal, was breaking the company policy.
I then tried to go online to order through Uber Eats. The same meal that used to cost 46.99, then tax... now comes to 87.99 with delivery, mandatory tip and the new price increase. You can not make any adjustments to their menu and they were more than rude about it.
I've never had problems with any of their staff, other than them rolling their eyes if you dare ask for anything extra (for example you get 3 toppings, but I only like 2, so I ask for extra of one). They always tell me I have to pay more. Why? You are allowed 3, I only get 1 and like 2 if the same, how is that a 4th item.
Anyway, this time the employee was rude, short tempered and offered the poorest customer service I've ever experienced. If they are going to raise prices by a whopping 40.00 they can keep it. I hope they enjoy going out of business. Tips are for service, and usually it's expected to be at least half decent. And since when do you have to mandatory tip 15% for fast food takeout?
This app makes you choose at least 1 star... but Tahinis today gets a...
