I’m always a supporter of business’ that originate in my home town, but when not home, I don’t tend to have great success, and this wasn’t an exception to that rule. The place looks great, modern decor, and well maintained, but some of the seating areas look awkward, and hard to get in and out of. On a table of 6, half had issues, from being served the wrong food, to the food being way off basis, and even accounting for there being a big festival in town, the reason we were there, the food took over an hour to get to us, despite it not being busy. I mean, the California Club was great, but that wasn’t what I ordered. On top of that, neither bathroom had a working towel dispenser, and other issues with the general cleanliness.

The service was great and the place looked very nice. We were misinformed on the phone on what time the kitchen closed so we were only able to order appetizers which at first was a little dissapointing until our plates arrived! If those were appetizer sizes, I wonder what's the size of a regular plate!! I ordered nachos and my friend, a poutine and took at least half of my plate to go since there was soo much. We also had a couple of local beers that pared perfectly with our food! I definitely recomend this place!!

This was our first time back to the Mow in over 3 years, we had a reservation for 8 at 10am and were the first people seated. I can tell you it was hard to keep the kids calm when it was over an hour from sitting down to getting food and when the food came 5 out of 8 had lukewarm to cold food. I also found the portion sizes were lacking, $15.50 for some homefries, curd and gravy with 4 pieces of bacon is atrocious; and $10.50 for homefries and a small waffle for kids is extreme! I will not be back.

The only reason I didn't give this two stars is because the service was quite good. Exceptional for this city, but would be on par for a restaurant of this type in most other locales. Brockville is in the Twilight Zone as far as what is considered to be "acceptable" customer service, so this restaurant should be appreciated for that.

As for the food... this is what is really lacking, and the portions and proportions are way off. I had the Pub Curry and found it to be of little value, especially with the $6.50 add-on for the blackened chicken. If it weren't for this the meal would have consisted of about a one-cup portion of "curry", about 1 ½ cup portion of over-cooked rice, and a slab of chewy "naan" bread... for $19. Add on the $6.50 for the protein and that is one over-priced dish. They should at least include a side of some sort with it.

I've had lots of different kinds of curry in my life and today's version was not something that I would consider to fit into any classification, other that "western version, restaurant grade". Nothing special about this at all. The chicken was good though.

Will I go there again? Oh probably. I just don't have the patience for snotty servers who lack the interpersonal skills to work in hospitality and make it abundantly clear that they are only there for your money. So Barley Mow definitely wins on the customer service. And, as an added bonus, I do believe they sponsor some local minor league teams. So community presence gets extra points in my book. They just need to up the value for money spent and they will have a...

I have never ever left a business a bad review, no matter what. But, my experience today at this place has left me quite incensed. I understand that a place like this depends on locals for its bread and butter, but the utter lack of attention and snarkiness I encountered as a one-off visitor was shocking. I admit, I may have walked in through the wrong door. But, there is no sign on the sidewalk saying one should go to the front door further down. I walk in. Sit down at the bar and wait. Not a single greeting or smile from the staff. A good 5 to 10 minutes later, a server asks what I want. I ask for a beer. She's says she needs a minute, so I said, take your time. "Oh I will," she responds in a mock agreeable way. I decide then, I'm going to have the beer and leave. Not staying for dinner. When it comes time to pay, I pay with cash. "Oh cash," says the server, looking annoyed and angrily counting change out of the till. I originally left a $2 tip on the $9.75 check. It sat on the counter for over 10 minutes while I drank my beer as fast as I could. As I was leaving, I decided to not to leave even the $2 and took it back. Edit: Two weeks later with no response. Wow. You...

Service was quick to seat table and restaurant was clean sever was very warm and welcoming, questioned if everything was up to my liking ,food was good got the special fish and chips great Now food fish was delicious fish seasoned and not a heavy breading I like my fish little bit under so it was to me little over but normal liking fish was cooked beautifully. Chips just perfect for me everyone has there own liking but the thing's I was not crazy about was the slaw little to much sauce not that a big deal everything else was great will be going back . Other thing was the tartar sause I'm into more of a british sause it tasted more of dill not for me . Owner makes his own brew of different flavors of beer great flavor I will be going back only reason I gave 4 was to much sause on slaw and tartar ,but again everyone has there own flavor some people like sause some people like none and that's me so overall food was amazing I would have stayed and ordered more to be honest but had other things to attend to going back next week...
