I really wanted to give Twins Cafe a perfect 5 stars. Honestly, I did. The matcha? Phenomenal. Creamy, smooth, perfectly whisked. The vibe? A+ sunlight streaming through the windows, cozy corners, lo-fi beats, and just the right amount of hipster plants.
But then... the barista approached.
Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciate hard work. I don’t know if this man had just finished a triathlon or wrestled a bear out back before making my drink, but as he handed me my beautiful matcha, an invisible cloud of despair wafted over. I was instantly transported into what I can only describe as a gym sock apocalypse. My nostrils shriveled. I took one sip, one sniff and within 5 minutes, I was plotting my escape before paramedics had to be called.
So, Twins Cafe: Your drinks? Chef’s kiss. Your aesthetic? Pinterest board worthy. But for the love of caffeine and customer retention, please introduce your barista to a stick of deodorant. Preferably industrial grade.
I'll be back (maybe with a clothespin on my nose), but until...
Read moreI’ve visited this café a couple of times since it’s conveniently close to Western and King’s. Unfortunately, both visits left me somewhat disappointed. The first time, my coffee was overly bitter and took longer than expected to arrive, even though the café wasn’t busy. On the bright side, my friend’s matcha was excellent.
Wanting to give the place another chance, I went back in July with a friend. Sadly, the experience wasn’t much better. Despite the café being nearly empty, it took close to 25 minutes for my Cappuccino—something very simple—to be ready. We were told our drinks would be brought to us when we ordered, but instead, my cappuccino sat on the counter for about 10 minutes before finally being delivered. By the time I received it, it was lukewarm at best.
That said, the café itself has a lovely atmosphere and is a pleasant place to sit, relax and study. However, based on my experiences, the quality of the drinks and the long wait times don’t quite match...
Read moreVisited Twins Café for the first time with my girls and had such a great experience. The vibe is super chill and aesthetically pleasing like definitely one of those spots that feels cozy and welcoming from the moment you walk in.
The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, happily fulfilling all of our (admittedly picky) requests such as light ice, stronger chai, etc. Big shoutout to them for their patience and attentiveness!
We spent a few hours there playing cards and having good conversations in a laid-back, no-pressure environment. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger.
Drinks and treats were decent honestly I’d say a solid 7/10 in terms of taste. Nothing overly fancy, but still enjoyable and hit the spot for our caffeine cravings.
Overall, a lovely experience and I’ll definitely be back again sometime...
