Saturday July 5th, Sunfest weekend. Although we were enjoying ourselves, our group decided to eat at the Bungalow instead of eating at a greasy fair food booth (If I knew then how bad of an experience we'd get, I'd of stuck with eating fair food). After driving and trying to find a parking space (good luck) we get there to find at least a half hour wait. We decide to wait it out. Wish we had left when the group that came right after us decided to. Wait a half hour, in this time the group ahead of us get in. Two other groups show up, obvious friends of staff and are immediately seated. We wait additional time, with servers randomly calling out numbers even though we were the only group there. Finally get seated and have the most uncaring waitress imaginable. We order our drinks, and one of us gets a glass of water topped up once, with an empty water jug with the promise of more that never came. Wait about an hour+ before food comes, and another table that got seated not that long before our food came, got their food right after ours. Food. Was. Disgusting. I had their poutine, the fries were a mix of soggy and under-cooked, and the "gravy"...wasn't gravy. No idea what they mixed to create it, but it wasn't gravy. Hamburgers were horrible, someones sandwich looked, felt and tasted like it had been sitting out on a counter for an hour and then re-heated, not to mention lacking in ingredients. Never saw a waiter, word wasn't spoken as we past the hostess on the way out, and payed a ridiculous amount for this horrible meal. Unless you're a friend/family/acquaintance of the staff here, I HIGHLY don't recommend this place to anyone. Not 20 minutes after we left, 5 out of 6 of us have been left with horrible varying...
Read moreThree friends and myself ventured to The Bungalow in lieu of going to Ribfest. It looked like a cozy little spot and the menu had a bit of everything so we could all choose something we liked. The prices were about the same as what you would find at any other dinein restaurant. They are renowned for their burgers so of course that's what I had to try. I built my own, a great choice but overwhelming to some as there are alot of choice of toppings. The table ordered another burger topped with bacon and pepper jam with a beet salad on the side. A steak sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. The prime rib fettuccine, which comes with garlic bread. The burgers were great, I see why they are known for them. They are smash burgers, they don't put alot of spice in the patty, which is fine by me when the toppings are splendid. I got roasted garlic on mine which comes as whole cloves and are squishy and delicious. It's the same garlic they used for the garlic bread!! The burger was moist and fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my other burger friend. The steak was said to be tough and chewy by both of the other patrons. The fettuccine was cooked to a perfect el dènte, while the Mac and Cheese was said to be too soft. But that the cheese sauce was delicious. We all enjoyed the pretzel bite apps with grainy mustard. My favorite!!! The server was extremely friendly and patient. She had a great sense of humour as well. The place was clean and well kept I would...
Read moreI like the location of this little restaurant. It's situated right in a nice neighbourhood. And the feel is also cozy and publike. I have to say, though that I am not super impressed with the menu. I have eaten here about 6 times now with the last time being just last week. Pizza was on my mind and so I ordered the Butter Chicken flatbread. Nothing spectacular. For $17.99 I really wish they could have been more generous with the toppings. Then again, I find a lot of places are like that with their specialty pizzas. Not a really strong flavour of butter chicken which might have been due to the fact that there was not that much sauce. The amount of cheese was appropriate but the green onion, chicken and mango were in short supply. (I did not want the jalapeno peppers on mine.) Is it really too much to ask to have 80-90% of the toppings in each mouthful? I don't want to have so much that it's falling off as I am trying to bite into it but I had too many bites that were just crust and cheese. And the toppings did not go to the ends of the flatbread which, again, left me with just a lot of crust. Our server was very nice and the drink prices are reasonable. It is close to St. Joe's which was the main reason we ate there but I would not make this a destination place to eat. They also do not take reservations for parties less than eight people. In short, the food is good but not outstanding. Perhaps if I am in again, I will try something that I have...
