I used to work at Yins back in high school and the food was incredible. The quality was so good that it’s a shame how the food is now. Every time I order from Yins now it’s either pretty good or terrible which means there’s no consistency. I understand the price increase so that doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is that the food quality has not stayed the same. Today I ordered what I always get which is a chicken sandwich toasted on brown add mayo and pickles with fries and gravy. For this order they decided to add tomatoes for some reason which I hate and the gravy was so flavourless and inedible that I actually had to call in because I thought the batch had gone bad or that the recipe changed for the worse.
The only reason I am giving this review a 3/5 is because of the manager Kevin. After telling him about my meal, particularly the gravy, he was apologetic and said he would do better and actually taste the food before serving it. He called me back after our initial phone call and confirmed that he tried it and it was truly terrible and again apologized, gave me a $10 credit, and promised that he would ensure they were tasting the food that they were serving. I truly hope this happens and that they find a way to get Yins back to its former glory. I will definitely try their food again but if it’s how it’s this awful again I will not be coming back....
Read moreOne word to describe the food here: Horrible. I've lived here for 25 years, Yins was known for its high quality, good portions. I work in Hamilton and whenever I said I lived in Waterford 8/10 the person would say "Yins" as it was that well known. It changed hands maybe 5-6 years ago and the quality changed also. In the last 4 years I've ordered 3 times each time horrible and each time promised myself I would not go back there. But I hoped to buy local... Ordered for the very last time tonight. Cantonese chow mein usually has regular sized shrimp theirs has tiny cocktail shrimp 3-4. Beef looked grey and no exaggeration, no flavour and pink inside not sure what type of meat I ate. No flavour period, no fresh veg just limp and soggy, very small amount. I honestly eat at least half of this dish could only choke down 1/4. Chicken fried rice lots of green peas, 2-3 priece of chicken few thin slice of mushroom, that's it. $40 later and I can't eat it, will go in garbage. Hoy's restaurant in Simcoe is the only place I'll go now. Family that originally owned Yins owns Hoys so quality is there. Just sold but new owners are consistent in delivering same quality of food. Never again will I waste my money at Yins. Sorry but...
Read moreI am not happy with the service I received or the product served to me. When asked to confirm there was not almonds. The trainees response (with a trainer behind her) was "Well the paperwork says there's not. So it's fine" luckily for this girl no one is allergic. But that is no way to "confirm" the order. And the trainer is no better for allowing that to happen.
Now for the food. It was barely warm. (I live 2 mins from there business) even with me showing up 4 mins before the stated 25 mins required to make.
Broccoli/onions/peppers all over cooked. absolutely zero chicken in the chicken and vegetables. General Tao sauce was way to sadly. And the lemon chicken was sauced (which no other Chinese restaurant does. Even when you request it.) To the point the chicken was gross and soggy. Big chunks of egg in the rice.
My whole experience was atrocious. People tried telling me how good it was when I moved to qaterford a few months ago. But if you've ever eaten anywhere else... from customer service, to product, to customer satisfaction, this entire restaurant just fails. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Overpriced slop is...
