Horrific experience. I was dinning with 8 guests. The owner proceeded to argue with a customer about pricing. A young employee had clearly made the error. The customer was debating the matter, when the owner clearly said “I will take the difference out of her cheque”. This lead the customer to be outraged. As a bystander I was blown away that she had said this. The customer left and I commented on my experience and that mistakes happen. The owner proceeded to say that she was stressed, meanwhile the teenage employee was sobbing. She proceeded to argue with me and I said you lost 9 customers because over one comment. I said we would review the experience, her response was “all you people pay Pennies anyways”. I work in the field of mental health and I am always cognizant of burnout, stress etc.. The owner of a business abusing an employee over a 15 dollar mistake was one of the most uncomfortable things I’ve ever witnessed. The other employees appeared horrified. I had 8 guests. I told them about this wonderful place to get cupcakes. This is what they watched. I hope the young lady reads this and quits and complains about this. There are bad experiences but this was horrifying. I sure hope the person with the original issue comments. I will ensure that every person in my circle is aware of this. Inexcusable and disgusting. As I left, she said “it’s not her first mistake”. I am a huge fan of small businesses but this one is a disgrace. Read moreI ordered cupcakes for my engagement party! They were very good and my guests enjoyed them very much, but I was disappointed. The cupcakes were meant to have a filling and this was written on my order details but sometime between me placing the order and it being filled they got new owners that no longer offered the stuffed cupcakes. This wasn't communicated to me at all so I only found out when I was at my event when having a cupcake and found there was no filling!
Additionally, I got vanilla and lemon, so the cake itself was virtually identical. We wanted them to be decorated differently to show there were two flavours and this direction wasn't followed at all, so no one knew if they were getting vanilla or lemon until already eating. We brought these complaints to the shop afterwards but all we got was a verbal apology and a promise that something like this wouldn't happen again because the baker had been replaced and they offered us a $20(it might've been $40?) voucher when the order had been ~$400 which was kind but left me dissatisfied.
I want to repeat, the cupcakes were Excellent but they just weren't what we ordered. I think that once the new owners took over we should've been contacted about this change so we might've known what to expect or come up with a solution, but now I almost feel like I was taken advantage of because they didn't want to lose our business. Read moreI was a fairly regular customer and after today I will never go back. When you purchase a sandwich you get a stamp on a card. After you purchase 10 sandwiches (10 stamps) you get a free sandwich. Today I had 2 cards on me, 1 had 9 stamps and 1 had 3 stamps. When I presented them to the owner she became angry. She said I don’t get a free one because my card wasn’t full and if I wanted to use them both she was going to throw out the one with 3 stamps. Before I could say no problem I would save it for next time she threw them in the garbage. I paid my bill and she rudely walked away. After I left I called to let her know my experience was very upsetting and she told me she didn’t care if I came back or not. I could not believe it. I was nothing but polite to her even after she treated me so poorly. It will hard for her to stay in business if she doesn’t care if customers come back.
