A&W Canada — Restaurant in Ottawa

I've never been treated worse at a drivethrough than I was five minutes ago.

I come here a lot as it's right by my house and my autistic son absolutely loves burgers. I've never had an issue to date. Since "Burger" is one of his few words, it's a given we go there. So it happened this morning that he was screaming that word so I took him through the drive-through.

This next part is a side portion, but maybe something was going on there different than a usual day. But it took awhile with no many apparent customers. When I ordered there was only one vehicle at the window, so by the time I ordered I came right up to the window. It took 11 minutes after I paid to get my food. I watched as the lady running the instore counter handed out about 3 or 4 meals in this time while I was waiting for mine.

When I finally got handed the food, I sat there for a few seconds to do the inventory check and saw I only had one hashbrown. It wasn't a big order (2 breakfast burgers, a teen and 2 hashbrowns) so it was pretty easy to see only one hashbrown. I realized the crack in the window was open slightly so I started saying "Excuse Me!". I noticed the lady that was running drivethrough see me and not responded so I said it again and she raised her finger as to wait a sec. At this time the instore counter lady saw I was asking for attention so she opened the window and I said that i was missing a hashbrown. She turned and there was one hashbrown sitting right there so she picked it up and started to bring it to me. As she handed it to me she asked the other lady if she had forgot a hashbrown. She said no I gave him two. I proceeded to show the bags to the window saying "there's one in this bag, none in the other ". She literally responded "There was one in both bags".

I was shocked. Dumbfounded. Thinking that she would actually respond like that. It was two seconds ago. I'm thinking to myself now, does she actually think I would in the matter of a few seconds hide a hashbrown to get an extra free hashbrown? So I responded while showing her both bags "You can come out here and check, I was only given one hashbrown" to which she replied by smiling and saying "Have a nice day sir." and closing the window. My outburst response was "You've got to be f###ing kidding me".

All I can say is this sucks. I go there all the time and now I have to question if I ever do again. I've never seen someone in a service industry respond like that whether they believe they made a...

I have never been treated so poorly as a regular customer at this location! :(

"MADDIE" (A loud Asian girl with glasses) was very rude when I told her I did not have my coupon for my meal, I told her that they usually just punch it into the system without a coupon! SHE made a very loud and big deal about this and to me and I front of other customers and employees...and started yelling and saying that from now on she will be checking everyone for coupons! this employee made a big scene for nothing and I let her know I did not appreciate her tone with me, especially since I was a regular customer at this restaurant every few days or so, and they have never asked me for the coupon before!

I have never felt so unwelcome at my favourite restaurant that I love to go to I spent several thousand dollars at this location, but unfortunately I will not be returning to any A&W locations after this incident. :(

Employees like this are detrimental to a company

I will be contacting the labour board of Canada to file a report on this employee and the way I was treated and the way she was treating other customers as well

A&W you have lost a very loyal customer today...

Get your stuff together, this can't be...

Crappy as hell just placed an order when I got home a poutine for my nine years old had no gravy in it! What the point of putting gravy in the poutine saves the store some money! It's 10pm. Pass by drive thru to get something to eat now my daughter is going to bed without dinner as I was at work all day tired had no plans of cooking which is why I passed by to pick up food! Crappiest poutine ever received! Too bad I can't share the picture on here no worries I shared it on my Facebook page! For everyone to see!

Also service is also crappy! Last time I passed to order, I ordered a combo and asked to replace the fries for a poutine and I ordered an order of onion rings! The drive thru cashier replaced my fries for onion rings instead of poutine being upgraded she charged me full price of the poutine which made my bill $3... more! But I knew what she did! So I said no I asked to upgrade my fries to a poutine which increases the combo price by $2 instead she replaced it onion rings and charged me full price of poutine she refused to fix it! Lol great store ! Rip people off don't...
