Went as a group of 4. The restaurant is nicely decorated inside and they have a large patio. The washrooms are individual with low lighting. Would hate to think what the black tiles and floor look like with better light. The service started off very slow or absent for the first 5-6 min but then someone came over with water and apologized. Service was prompt after that and always friendly. The food was why we came though and why I don't plan to go back. While others thought the pizza was good (not great), I wasn't a fan of anything I had (white sauce pizza - Benjamin button, half tiramisu and half of a soft serve). We all swapped slices and I did find the red sauce pizzas better. On the Benjamin button all you could taste was the mushrooms. I could not taste the sauce, cheese, truffle, etc. so things weren't well balanced. Others agreed. Others loved the tiramisu but I'd say its a pass and same on the $12 soft serve. Add tax and tip on that little bit of soft serve and you're at a every expensive bit of average ice cream with some really nice olive oil drizzled on top. We were just told the desserts and didn't see or notice the price on the menu before hand so that's a pass for me too.

First time at Giulia. As an Italian, I actually appreciate the wine served in a cup, it is how we serve it, not in a wine class. Their house wine was okay. What is really decent - their crust. I'll give them that. It is crispy on the bottom and on the crust but still has a good flavour and chew. The sauce was decent. I recommend getting the garlic parmigiano dip. Also very good. My main issues....pizzas came lukewarm. No reason for that. Furthermore, I know the Marcella says the mortadella comes on top after the pizza was cooked. 1) it isn't cut thin enough and 2) cook the damn meat with the pizza. This is not prosciutto. This is mortadella. It should be sliced almost as thin and due to it's fat to.meat ratio, it makes sense to cook it. It isn't as delicate as prosciutto. I enjoyed the tirimisu. It has marsala in it, but the alcohol was not super evident (as it shouldn't be). So, I was pleasantly surprised. I would try them one more time. But I do find them about $6 a pizza over priced for what you get.

We ordered a bunch of pizzas to share. In general, we loved the thin crust. It’s not as chewy as some other places which we love. The crust is charred more than other pizza restaurants too. The spicy Clarice was great. One of the best out of the four. Great flavour combination. The Ezzo was a bit too salty because of the pepperonis. The Benjamin button have lots of toppings on it which was good, but it’s missing some flavour. The Marcella is ok. Crust has good crumbs, thin almost crunchy. Lack a bit of flavour, if the dough is fermented longer, it might add a bit more flavour. The red sauce was flavourful, with the right amount of acidity and not overpowered by the toppings. We also ordered a starter to share based on others recommendations, maybe because it’s recommended, I had high expectations. It was mediocre.

Did not have chance to taste your pizza. Person who was responsible for placing/ sitting guests was very SELECTIVE to who she wanted to give table or to who she won’t , even having about 6 empty tables around. Maybe because we did not look worthy enough or cool enough for your restaurant , woman with cane. We waited 35 min as they asked, still did not get table, on question why you can’t give us table if visibly 6 empty tables around, she looking from above and talk with smirk in her face, say because they reserve for people who already in 45 late, but we waited how she asked us and still was not honoured one little table for two, I couldn’t stand long, I’m recovering from hard surgery, and it was my first evening out, just a treat, and idk why we choose your restaurant (no more) , how would you feel? Her name is Cvenja, have no idea what is her role but definitely she is not in her place, not only she is not professional she should not greeting gueests. She just was extremely snobby and not friendly, with attitude, looks like giving a favour she actually talks to you. What is this? It’s a first time we experienced this, never ever met person who greets you like this in any restaurants we ever been. We left very upset and humiliated to deal with this kind of “service” Is it something new in service? . How it’s possible to act like this,, it’s disgusting.Especially was very hard for me, how felt, staying in front of her and asking for table and chair I could sit.Very sad experience, which brought me to tears and I really wish that restaurant business would be much nicer and more respectful to any age groups and nationalities and basically to any person who came to visit them. So, I personally of course would not recommend place even if they have good food but luck of humanity. They don’t see person on you, just estimate how you can be tip giver? Btw we always, always very generous and respectful to any waiter who served us knowing how hard work it is. Anyway, people there, stay humans and learn to...

The pizza tasted okay but very burnt at the bottom and it was bitter. And it was too chewy so the knife wouldn't even cut through well and it was hard to bite it off too. They seated us at a tiny table and all the vase, water bottle, cups, candles, plates, and utensils were all clustered in a tiny table and I couldn't even try to cut the pizza afraid to knock something over. It was early dinner and they had so many empty better seats with comfy seats and bigger tables. When I asked to be seated on them, they said they had several reservations so they refused. But for people that came after us, same 2 ppl, they got the better seats. I don't know if it was a different server, but it shouldn't matter because then the server that told us they had no seats due to reservation were lying and discriminating their customers. While everyone else was comfortably seated in corner tables, we were randomly in the middle table and were right in the centre of the bartenders sight and it was uncomfortable because it was early and he had nothing to make, so he was just staring straight and was pretty close by.

Also, when we asked to split the bill, they didn't even ask how we'd like to split it. We wanted to do half the total price since we were sharing, but it would've been okay if they just asked who's playing for which item. They just chose who'll be paying for which pizza by themselves and it was the opposite of who actually ordered which pizza. It just seemed like they were rushing us and it was overall a very poor experience but I didn't raise a problem cuz I didn't want my friend to feel bad. Definitely overpriced for the quality of...

Guilia Restaurant Review

We were craving pizza on our Ottawa visit and Guilia was highly recommended. We arrived shortly after opening to enjoy some pies. The service was fast and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered a tuna crudo to start and two pizzas. The orange wine my partner had was complex and paired well with the food, while I enjoyed the always delicious non-alcoholic sour from Bellwoods, which is a delight to see on any menu.

Unfortunately, there was a mix-up in the service, and we waited a long time for the crudo, which delayed the entire meal. Although the crudo was taken off the bill as a nice gesture, it disrupted the timing of our dinner. When it arrived, the crudo was pretty good, featuring fresh tuna topped with cucumber and Fresno chili, making for a pleasant appetizer.

The pizzas were excellent overall. We ordered a red sauce pie with pepperoni and a white pie with speck, green olives, and red onions. They were perfectly cooked, with a crispy crust that had a satisfying chew. However, one recommendation would be to put more care into the distribution of toppings and the cutting of the pizza. Taking a few extra seconds to evenly distribute the toppings and cut the pizza properly would significantly elevate the overall experience.

If you are craving pizza in Ottawa, I’d recommend checking out Guilia. We have had a lot of pizza, and they stack up with some of the better spots. With a few refinements in their service and attention to the details of the food, this place...
