This is a beautiful place by the water. It needs to have more benches as people always seem to be looking for them. The fountain needs alot of work aswell. The city seems to be ignoring this. The fountain needs a good clean and paint job. The water in it always looks dirty. It may not be dirty, but why dont they paint the basin of this a blue colour when they drain it for the season. Right now it seems to have a paint colour that is more like a sewage colour. Of course it will cost money to do this but at the same time this is a big tourist area and it does not make a good impression on anyone. As said, the fountain needs work, it looks like it needs a good clean and really I dont think it would cost alot of money (some, yes of course) but leaving it looking like the city does not care about the impression it leaves people with is not the answer. There seems to be structural work needed in parts aswell because some parts look like they have been replaced which is great, other parts of the cement look like they could fall in or away from the fountain. If a city, with only so much, interms of funds spends money on things, should some of that at least go towards the tourist area which this area is (and a very popular park for the people of the city as well). It would not take alot to take this fountain (that should be beautiful) and make it beautiful again. Right now its tired looking and it looks like it's been forgotten...

Confederation Park is a centrally located park that is surrounded by the Rideau canal, Elgin, Laurier and Slater streets. It was a busy part of Bytown's upper town where British and Scotish people lived and worked and has continually been an important part of Ottawa's history.

This area has changed functions throughout the years. Previously being an industrial logging hub, the luxurious Roxborough apartments that housed early Prime Ministers (William Lyon MacKenzie King and Louis St. Laurent) and was the home arena of the original Ottawa Senators hockey team (1908 - 1927)

Today you will find it as a peaceful greenspace park that was designed as part of Canada's centennial celebrations.

In the park you will find a large circular fountain that stood in Trafalgar square, London England (1843 - 1948) which was a tribute to Lt. Colonel John By (Founder of Bytown), an aboriginal war memorial, a Kawkuitl Totem pole and a Memorial that recognises animals, which helped/ help Canadian troops.

This is a nice place to sit down and rest on the grass and enjoy lunch after a busy day. You can also find ice scuptures in the park during winterlude and colourful Christmas lights hanging on the older trees. It is also one of the locations of the Ottawa Jazz festival.

If you like my reviews, photos or videos give them a thumbs up. Please keep Ottawa clean by throwing out your garbage when you are...

Atop a long set of stairs is a beautiful fountain. But below this fountain at the bottom of the stairs, this wonderful park spreads out.

Beauty, relaxation, inspiration, and adventure is waiting for you! It's a great place for the family. Bring your picnic basket. ((Please remember feed yourselves not the wild life. And let's keep this park clean of trash. Please use the bins/trash can/garbage or take it with you and trash/recycle it at home. Thank you.))

This place has a wading pool, swings, a slide and a place that looks like ruins, but lends to the imagination of the young at heart. It was built to play in. Or have a picnic.

Do you want inspiration for pictures or art? Or maybe just to relax and unwind? Come here and walk the park or along the bicycle or sit...

In Ottawa for a few days for outpatient treatments and decided to take a walk around the Parliament area and Sparks Street. Ended up walking along the canal and stumbled upon Confederation Park. What a nice area in downtown Ottawa this is and fairly quiet too. Took sometime to sit down and talk in this park while having a bottle of water from the Bistro takeout in the park. I think I’ll take another cruise downtown before I leave and walk abit more of the canal with another stop at this park!
