As a native of Brampton, theres a plethora of options to choose from back home, I felt like getting some Punjabi food here in Kanata and Google led me to Karara. The place itself is situated in a quaint little plaza with the restaurant itself being small as well. There is seating for around eight people max split across three to four tables, and is not a fine dining experience so don't go in expecting otherwise.
The guys working there were friendly and took my order promptly so no issues on the customer service side. However, the food itself is lacking in flavour and taste substantially compared to the prices you have to pay. I ordered a Thali, which consists of three different dishes, alongside rice, a salad, naan and a gulab jamun. It cost me around $15 and change, which compared to Brampton to me is extremely pricy. I was hoping the taste would make up for the price, however I was extremely disappointed in the taste of all three dishes. I got the Channa Masala, Daal Makhani and Mattar Paneer. The Channa Masala was absolutely inedible, it tasted like raw chick peas drenched in lemon juice, no flavour whatsoever. The Daal Makhani lacked the tomato and spice laden taste that is expected of a good Daal and the Mattar Paneer was bland and a weird combination of both too sour and too sweet.
Although I had no issues with the service, the food needs to be the star of the experience. I'd try elsewhere if looking for a good Indian food experience because I think this place...
Read moreIf there is a 0 option, I will select that. We ordered cauliflower biryani for pickup. When we picked up and reached home, it was goat biryani. When I called the restaurant, she mentioned that mistakes happen. Instead of feeling sorry for what happened, they want me to bring back the biryani to show as the proof that I didn't lie. When we want there, the cauliflower biryani was not ready. We had wait another 15 min for that. When I asked for a compensation for this (at least a discount or a refund), the guy was so rude.He asked why he should give the refund. I mentioned whey I had to pay for his mistakes by travelling there 2 times and waiting, he said how many kilometres you travelled. He was so ill mannered and don't know what customer satisfaction means. He mentioned that owner didn't want him to give the refund. He was not willing to allow us to talk to the owner. He used very bad language. He came out and spoke to the owner by calling a different branch number and spoke to her. She is a very sweet and loyal person. She was very sorry for what happened. But I had to write this review which will help other people. Vegetarians, beware. Mistakes so happen there always!!. I read couple of other reviews that they were rude. I think its time that the owners take a strict action and make sure this doesn't happen with...
Read moreI am not sure even if someone associated with this restaurant will read this. So, no hope of improvement. Being in Kanata, unfortunately, the only option is Karara. Last time, I have ordered a vegetable chowmein which was too saucy (sweet) and they have added broccoli (surprise). Today, with a busy day opted to pick up food which had a chicken curry, Samosa and a garlic naan. I have asked them to make chicken curry as mild and what were the instructions given in the kitchen God knows. The chicken curry was too watery, Samosa was burnt from the outside and raw from the inside, same with naan which was a rubbery dough (raw). So, I have called the restaurant and was asked to come back tomorrow to get the replacement of the chicken curry. I don’t know-how is that convenient as I am hungry at the moment, later was offered a $5 refund after spending $38 Thanks but keep it with you and don't take orders if you don't want to serve properly. Because of you, so much food is...
