Sushi Eki is the worst restaurant I've ever been to by far, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that the atmosphere is outdated and uncomfortable. The design looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90s. The lighting is too bright and uninviting, and the seating is cramped and uncomfortable along with the old chairs and table which screech. It's a place that you'd want to leave the moment you walk in the door.
But unfortunately, the bad experience doesn't stop there. The staff is incredibly rude and uninterested in providing even basic customer service. They seem to be completely disinterested in making your dining experience enjoyable, and it's clear that they're only there to collect a paycheck. The waiter was snappy and impatient, and he acted like he was doing us a favor by serving us.
And then there's the food. It's an absolute disaster. The sushi was dry, flavorless, and poorly constructed. It seemed like the fish had been sitting out for far too long before being served. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it had been sitting out all day. The rice was hard and tasteless, and the rolls were poorly constructed. It's a complete insult to sushi lovers everywhere. The quality of the food is terrible, and it's not worth the money you pay for it.
But the worst part of my experience at Sushi Eki was contracting worms in my stomach after eating there. Yes, you read that right - WORMS. It was a completely disgusting and traumatizing experience. I was sick for days after eating there and had to go to the hospital to get treated. The thought of worms inside my body from eating at Sushi Eki makes me shudder. It's a serious health issue, and it's completely unacceptable for a restaurant to serve such low-quality food that can lead to dangerous health problems.
Sushi Eki is a complete and utter disaster. The atmosphere is outdated, the staff is rude and uninterested, and the food is not only of incredibly poor quality, but it can also lead to serious health issues such as contracting worms. It's a place you should avoid at all costs, and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and find a better sushi restaurant to dine at, one that won't leave you with worms in...
Read moreGood sushi for the price point. Awesome addition to Kanata for sushi. I usually order online and pick up.
Fish quality is good, consistency is there whenever I order. I like their toched sushi a lot but also like their rolls as well. If you order their Bento sets it's a good portion. I do think if you order their eel rolls they are small rolls, but I think this is happening across the city in all the sushi places I've had!
If you're ordering for dinner on weekends I would suggest giving some extra leeway as I usually end up waiting at least 10-20 min after my intended/requested pick up time. They get slammed during peak hours and it gets a little disorganized since there isn't an obvious queue.
With how busy it gets and how many people are waiting, sometimes you end up getting jumped in the queue by other people who don't really care. That's not really in the staff if they don't see it happening but maybe a better system for pickups / dine in / ordering needs to be done.
Right now it's just hovering over the counter in the "L" shape and it feels like I'm at a busy club bar some nights when I pick up lol. As a side note, tea and water are self serve via a little cooler at the counter which adds to the foot traffic. But I also appreciate the hot tea!
That being said, staff are kind! The owner is very smiley and upbeat despite how insane it can get there. Always...
Read moreThe service was terrific I even tipped for a pickup order and I never even went to the restaurant before. The food however was absolutely awful. I spit it out and had to throw it away it was that bad. And I love sushi. I got the dynamite roll. In my experience at dynamite roll typically contains avocado, cucumber, crab and tempura. I can't eat cucumber so I asked for new cucumber when I get my sushi. The role did not have cucumbers thankfully. It also didn't have any tempura and it had this glob of some kind of raw meat that was inedible. I asked for a Philadelphia hand roll which typically comes with crab, cucumber and avocado. I expected there to be no cucumber which there was it. There was also no avocado. It was just a glob of the raw sushi meat and rice. They gave me a container of soy sauce so I threw some of that on the food to try and make it a little more edible. That just made it worse. I don't know if soy sauce can go bad but I think theirs did. It's unfortunate because the service was absolutely delightful when I went in to...
