If you want to ruin your dinner experience. Must go to this restaurant it will kill your zeal to even try any more Indian restaurant in Ottawa.
I was pretty impressed by the rating and was keen to try this newly opened restaurant.
Things which followed.
Called the restaurant for a reservation. They don't have it. This was fine by me.
Red flag - they asked me if I have covid vaccination done. I said yes. But no one bothered to check. And I observed they are did not check for anyone. Not sure are they really following all the covid precautions as a dining place actually must.
Only the guy there was decent enough to be a server. My server the lady was like she is forced to serve the table and she wants to leave asap. She had such messy hair, untied - all messy like someone will have in the morning without getting freshen up.
The lady came with the menu and water. As soon as she poured the water she was like what do you want to order? In a flat plain tone. I ignored it.
We ordered appetizers and the main course. And specifically told that please keep a gap in starters and main course. Guess what within 5 mins of starters the main course was on the table. We were not even halfway through the starters. It off me so badly. Ignored again.
Hey, I don't wanna ruin my dinner. I spent all in one hour and a half to get ready to reach there.
The only good dish was cauliflower Manchurian. The other good thing was the garlic naan - fresh, soft and tasteful.
The food was full of soda and oil. Oil was that much that you can get an attack while you are dining. The food is so not well cooked that after eating some bites you will feel like you are appetite is not done but if you will take another bite you will poke and throw up everything.
That's it. Oh, wait. We decided to pack the leftovers. The lady came with boxes and my friend finishing the last bite he already had on his plate. The lady has an audacity she asked should I bring the bill. I had nothing to reply but a pause and a second pause to calm myself down and say yes.
They were not even busier this evening they had empty tables. Just they do not know how to run a business or how to be courteous to customers.
The total dinner time from the order placed including starters and main course to bill payment was 35 mins. It took like 1 hour and 30 mins to dinner ready dressed and be there. Lol. The worst experience I ever had in my life not just in Ottawa around the glob. It was the limit.
It's my 100 dollars review.
They do not have mouth refreshers as well.
I am sure this business needs to make amends asap before they fail. Which they...

If you're searching for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Masakali Indian Cuisine. This restaurant is nothing short of spectacular—every.single.dish was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special.
The flavors? A touch of heaven. The quality? Unmatched. Each dish was crafted with such precision and care that you could taste the authenticity in every bite. And the best part? It’s not even that expensive—true luxury at an affordable price.
One thing that stood out immediately was that everything was made from scratch—and you could tell. The wait was a little longer than usual, but that only confirmed the dedication and artistry behind each dish. The result? Food so fresh, so rich in flavor, that it was worth every second.
The service was also top-tier. Our waitress, PRIYA was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable. She introduced us to Indian cuisine in the best way possible. She guided us through the menu, explaining everything thoroughly and recommending the best dishes. This is the type of dining experience that needs to be normalized.
Masakali Indian Cuisine isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a culinary journey. If you love Indian food (or even if you’ve never tried it before), this place will leave you absolutely speechless. Don't walk—run...

I recently visited Hotel Masakali in Ottawa, Canada, and I must say that my experience was rather disappointing. Despite the positive aspects of the ambiance and spaciousness, the overall quality of service and food left much to be desired.
Upon arrival, my hunger led me to immediately place an order. However, I was left waiting for nearly half an hour before the food arrived. The delay in service was disappointing especially considering my initial hunger pangs.
To my dismay, the Kashmiri Daam Aloo dish that I ordered was not up to par. The potatoes were undercooked and remained raw on the inside. When I brought this issue to the staff's attention, they offered to remake the dish. Overall experience, my companions and I decided to leave.
One positive aspect worth mentioning is the ambiance. The hotel boasted a spacious and well-designed atmosphere, which initially seemed promising. However, this was overshadowed by the disappointments encountered during the visit.
In conclusion my experience at Hotel Masakali in Ottawa was unsatisfactory. The delays in food service and the undercooked potatoes in the Kashmiri Dam Aloo dish were major letdowns. While the ambiance was pleasant, it did not compensate for the overall subpar experience. I hope that the management takes note of these issues and works towards improving their service and food quality...
