I am sad to have to drop my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars as we really enjoy our time there we have so many memories over the years, by child’s favourite restaurant ever. On the way to the store I found out on the online menu that they served lobster bisque, which I have not seen on the in store menu before. It wasn’t on the paper menu but I was very happy when the server said that they actualy have it. And the shocking surprise was that what I got was nothing like what was advertised I will share both advertised and served portions and yes again the problem has to do with portions, not only they are inconsistent and servers frequently admited it when it came to the butter chicken. But the lobster bisque was literally an ashtray sized small bowl with exactly 1 cm depth of fill soup, there was no room for a spoon to fill. However as I asked the server if there was a mistake with the protion as it did not make any sence to serve such a tiny portion she confirmed that it was a 100% the right size as it is expensive to make and to prepare, though this is not a soup kitchen at the shepherds of good hope, we were paying for anice and fancy meal and I honestly would have paid any given price as I rarely get to have a lobster bisque. What happened made me feel insulted but I said nothing as didn’t want to offend the nice server who was doing her best and took action with the best intentions in her mind. She offered me an extra portion- photo also attached literally one ounce in size.
Please offer the advertised portion and you feel an item is expensive, please adjust your prices to cover the cost.
I am really sad to have had this experience at a place we loved so much!
Review from a year ago: Montana was always the kid’s favourite restaurant, we visit this branch more than other branches, they always have splendid staff, the steak seems to be smaller to the ounce ratio compared to other restaurants but the good quality makes it better, I used to frequently take to beef ribs who on their end are fairly generous and delicious, but very fatty for me which made me switch and order steaks instead. The kids love the food, the desert and ask questions to the staff about the decor we always have a good time. The only reason I gave them 4 starts instead of 5 is because I don’t believe they always weigh the meat properly, many times but not always the portions tend be smaller that they should. Years ago I had a similar issue with a chicken...
Read moreA Wonderful Dining Experience with Devin
Dining out is about more than just the food it’s about the atmosphere, the company, and above all, the service. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of being served by Devin, and his professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness turned an ordinary meal into an exceptional experience.
From the moment we were seated, Devin made us feel genuinely welcome. He struck the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism, greeting us with a warm smile and immediately creating a relaxed atmosphere. His knowledge of the menu was impressive; he not only explained dishes thoroughly but also offered thoughtful recommendations that suited our preferences. It was clear that he had taken the time to understand both the kitchen’s strengths and the customer’s needs.
What stood out most was Devin’s attentiveness without ever being intrusive. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask—refilling glasses promptly, checking in at just the right times, and making sure every detail of our experience was taken care of. His calm demeanor and confidence gave us the reassurance that everything was handled smoothly, which allowed us to simply enjoy the meal.
Small gestures made a big difference, too. Devin noticed a hesitation when we were choosing between two entrées and kindly offered insight that helped us decide—his suggestion turned out to be the highlight of the meal. These moments showed not just knowledge, but also genuine care for our enjoyment.
Service like Devin’s doesn’t go unnoticed. His combination of professionalism, charm, and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience. It is rare to come across a waiter who embodies such a high level of dedication and passion for hospitality. Because of Devin, I left the restaurant not only satisfied with the food but also with a lasting positive impression that will bring me back again.
In an industry where customer service can make or break an experience, Devin is truly a standout. I would wholeheartedly recommend requesting him for anyone dining at this restaurant—you will be in...
Read moreI usually go to Merivale location but went here cuz closer to where my child lives and I preferred it. First of all, I want to give a shout out to our waiter, I think his name was Caleb...? I hope I got that right. It was quite busy but he was attentive and made sure we were happy. I told him I was GF and he made sure to make note of it and double checked on the coleslaw cuz depending on which location I go too, I get mixed answers as to whether or not it's actually safe. I also asked him if we could have the coloring paper and crayons as our table didn't have any and even though we are two adults, this is a fun part for me, lol. So he brought us some and two sets of crayons.
Food was good, can't go wrong with ribs.
One thing (and I did mention it to him and he said he would make note of it but I just want to make sure it doesn't go under the radar so mentioning it here too): I love it when waiters come and do the birthday song, I really do. BUT one of the waitresses was just behind my child and yelled crazy loud, very suddenly, announcing to whole restaurant it was x person's birthday. My child has PTSD and is on the spectrum so it not only startled them but they struggled with the start of a panic attack. Fortunately they were able to get it under control before it wrecked our evening. But I would really recommend that staff be conscious that things like this can be difficult for a number of individuals and I'm sure there is a gentler way to introduce the birthdays. When I mentioned it to our waiter, he was a sweetheart and warned us he was about to do the same thing to next table. So note to self to ask for a warning before we come next...
