O'Brien's Eatery & Pub — Restaurant in Ottawa

This is going to be a long review, so if you want the short version: Worst service I've experienced to date, took over 2 hours to get food, while being lied to by waitresses. The Lasagna was terrible and even calling it that should be false advertising.

The place was pretty full, but we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks. They came out pretty fast. We then ordered food, and after, we were told "By the way, the kitchen is backed up so it may take a while". To me, that means "it will probably take 30-45 minutes for the food".

We wait nearly an hour, no food. The server comes by, she apologizes for the delay. We ask if she has any idea how much longer for the food. She says "I have no idea". My father asks "Is there like a lot of take out or something?" and she says "I don't know, we just put in the order and they make the food in the order we enter it." and walks away. 10 more minutes pass, we look around and realize only maybe 9 plates have food have come out in over an hour. We talk to the table next to us, they were here 20 minutes before us and still have no food, as had the table behind them.

We flag down another server and say we want to cancel our order and leave. She says "okay" and comes back and says "So, funny story, your food is actually ready right now, it just came up. So I can cancel it if you want, or I can put it in a to-go box, or you can eat it here if you want." And my father asked "Is it going to be faster if we get it to go?" and she said "No, its the order it came in it" so he said "okay, we'll eat here, as long as it's ready now and not going to be like, another 20 minutes". The server assures us no.

10 more minutes pass, and dishes start coming out to the other 2 tables around us who were here first. We speak to the table on our other side who came in 20-30 minutes after us, and they're also shocked, they were told it would be 40 minutes for the food and it was already over an hour, and after hearing how long it's taken for us, they flag over the server and ask to cancel the order. The server asks if they want it to go, and the server somehow magically makes all their food appear in to-go containers before any of our food comes out.

Our server comes by again and apologizes for the delay. We say we were told our food was ready and would be out immediately. She says she's not sure why we were told that, and goes to the kitchen and checks, comes back and says it'll be ANOTHER 10-15 minutes before it's ready, but that she has taken 25% off our bill for the confusion. My father and partner are diabetic and were getting shaky and light headed, so we order regular pepsi to get their sugar levels up while we wait.

I started a timer, since we were already lied to many times. While waiting, a pizza comes out to ANOTHER table that came in after the other table next to us. My food comes out after 18 minutes. At this point, we have been here just over 2 hours. My father and partner's food took another 10 minutes to come out. The server apologized again, asked us if we wanted any drinks, on the house, and told us that she had taken 50% off our bill.

The mac and cheese was okay, not the best I've had but if served when I expected I would have been fine. The lasagna was basically 5 plain boiled noodles stacked on each other with nothing between, melted cheese on top and a ladle of sauce on the side. The sauce was super acidic nearly to the point of being inedible. My partner couldn't even eat it after being starving and had to go get other food after. We told the server it was terrible and tasted like jarred sauce, and I wouldn't even consider it lasagna, and she said it was homemade.

She came back and we paid, she apologized again and said she called the manager and 50% off and free drinks was the best they could do, she did not even take the atrocious lasagna off the menu, not even the 1 that didn't get eaten. I have had better walmart brand frozen lasagna than what was served. After all that, the whole meal should have been comped. If I could give a worse rating than...

The workers were extremely rude, we called for inquiry about some food and the women who answered the phone was extremely disrespectful. I have never had an I counter with a restaurant over the phone like that in my whole life. Never the less before we were able to finish asking questions about crevices, they hung up the phone without warning. I would definitely not recommend or trust these people to make your food for you. Who knows what they would do to it on a bad day like today.. glad the order did not go through for my families health and safety. Would not recommend you take the chance on risking your health for bad customer service. If there was anything lower than a 1 star, I would put that instead. Smh extremely disappointed.

Fast forward, we went back to see what all the disrespectful hype was about.. it was truly not worth it. On everything I love this is by far the worst pizza I have ever had. EVER. U can’t possibly mess up pizza that bad. If u look at the pics I put below, u will see that I peeled back the cheese and the crust is less than a millimeter thin, it is super oily and hard to stomach cause of the after taste. I will show u the proof.. do not waste ur money. (MIND YOU, my whole family is fasting n we still barely ate anything…)

If you are in the area and need food, go to saffron which is 2-5 mins up the street (I would rate saffron a minimum a 8/10 plus they were tremendously respectful at saffron) or central burgham. There is a lot of restaurants in the area that r far more worth it. Don’t waste your money. No disrespect to the business.. this is just the truth in my families...

This was the worst experiences I and my friends have had at a pub/restaurant. We came on a Friday night for some Karaoke and two waitresses (especially the younger one - looks arab) served us very rudely and poorly.

1. I got overly charged and then they were forcing me to pay it. Even when we asked them about the overcharge bill, they did not give any kind of refund. Furthermore, when I was paying, the waitress took the pay machine out of my hand and inserted her own tip for me to pay. (I truly believe they intentionally overcharged me). 2) The waitress was highly unprofessional and hostile. Whenever we would ask questions about the food or anything, she would give a very cold and rude response and stare at us blankly afterwards.
2. They were extremely insisitive that everyone must buy their own meal and drink and gave no exceptions.
3. Older waitress made a comment that we all looked the same in a hostile tone (we were a multiethnic group).
4. My friend also paid for the rum and coke, when he only ordered the coke and they wouldnt refund him the difference. Overall, giving a very very poor and condescending vibe and experience. This was an extremely disorganized and unprofessional. I highly dont recommend this place, there are far better places and services. Also, another time, a friend found a small piece of metal in one of their hamburger. Please go...
