While the food is certainly decent for the price, my last three visits have been such a miserable experience that I now feel the need to leave this review.
Loud Music: As a trained and certified audio engineer, I am more than qualified to declare that the music they've been playing each of my recent visits has been loud to the point of causing minor hearing damage and incredible difficulties focusing on enjoying the meal I paid 40+$ for.
Loud Servers: On each recent visit, and more than once per visit at that, the servers have decided that shouting across the restaurant and startling their customers is appropriate behavior. At least two articles of clothing are now stained because of said behavior.
Loud Music 2, Electric Boogaloo: So they initially turned down the music upon request, yet they decided to crank it back up again in the same meal. Once again, too loud to focus on the meal I am paying them to receive.
Scent UNfriendly: Two out of the last three visits, I and the individuals who ate with me have had to all but flee the restaurant due to other customers wearing incredibly powerful perfume/cologne. This alone has made me question returning, as a simple "No scented products" sign would solve this problem entirely. These signs are also cheap and easy to install. Even cheaper and easier to write that on paper before taping it to a window.
Conclusion: This is a business, not your home. You don't get to yell and scream as you wish, and play music loud enough to hurt your clients. You're a business. You are expected to maintain certain standards, and frankly?
Other than the food, all of my standards have not been met. The people who were with me? They feel similarly.
We could not enjoy our food due to the extreme noise and unpleasant smells. This has become frequent enough that I won't be returning any time soon. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants in the city that will provide a better experience.
Sad that this place...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went here after getting a little high so we we're looking forward to taking advantage of the all you can eat. We started with several rolls and were very happy with how they tasted, fresh and delicious with care put into how it was plated.
The other parts of the meal we're not that great, the curry had obviously canned peas and carrots, and the spring rolls were also not made in house, just frozen... This is where it got interesting. We ate everything, and honestly ordered quite a bit, it was the most I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The only thing we didn't eat were the spring rolls. We ordered 4 and ate 1 and told the bus boy that these were not good and still kinda cold on the inside.
He told us we had to eat them or we would be charged. We looked at him a little confused and said, "but they are not cooked, they are kinda gross" He insisted that we would be charged for anything not consumed. Okay that's fine "how much will these cost us?" we asked. here's his exact quote. "Out of this world expensive, you won't believe it." Then he leans in a tells us "I can make two of these disappear but I am taking a risk, please just eat one more." My girlfriend then just looks him square in the eyes and muscles it down, I am not even sure if she chewed to be honest. I was in tears laughing because I was pretty stoned. He took the two others away and we never saw him again.
We considered ordering more because we could tell at this point that they were just avoiding us, but our stomachs would have been pretty grumpy at us so we left.
We were only charged for two people with no extras. It was an adventure testing our limits, we both nearly tapped out many times. I think I was followed to the bathroom too so they could be sure I wasn't dumping food, and I am honestly surprised they didn't ask to search my gf's purse on the way out because I think they wanted to. Probably will not go back but glad to have...
Read moreSo disappointed, Ten Sushi used to be my favorite. Sadly over the last year they've gone downhill. There is no longer a focus on service. From when we walked in tonight to when we left the service was the pits. We were greeted and given a number but no time on when a table might be ready. We then got shown to a table after about a 5-10 minute wait. The table was by a cart with extra chop sticks, napkins and plates. My girlfriend kept getting hit in the back by the servers working at the cart. When we asked for a fresh plate because the one on the table had a hair on it, the server made it almost sound like it was a huge deal. We ordered our food and then noticed someone come along and start sweeping around the table. After getting hit by the broom in the ankle a few times I made the comment of how sweeping should be done before guests are sat at a table. Our food was brought to the table and just plopped on the table sometimes partially on top of another plate. We asked for a refill on our water and never got one until we requested the bill. When paying the credit machine ran out of paper and the waitress just darted away, no mention of returning or even a “hang on”.
The food here used to be great (for all you can eat) but now it's just average. Quality and presentation is obviously not a huge priority now. The sashimi was unevenly cut, the rolls were obviously quickly rolled and cut. They were uneven, loose and just tossed on a plate. The shrimp tempura was under cooked, the salmon pizza was greasy to the point of grease dripping off it. The sushi rice also didn't hold together properly. The fish quality also seemed to be lacking. Where before the quality was obvious, now it's just whatever can be found by the taste of things.
I will not be returning. Before today I was willing to do the drive from my new place in Barrhaven but now I'll be finding somewhere closer to...
