Can't believe this place has been here for its second season now! They said that they try to stay open for as long as the weather let's them for the summer/fall season. They have a lot of seating, fire pits at a lot of the tables/seating. They also have games like Hacky-Sac, Ping Pong, & Connect Four! They are open until 9 pm, the Food is amazing! They have their own little twist to everything they serve, which is your typical hot dogs, poutine and burgers. They also provide beverages as well as alcoholic beverages! Service is amazing! Order at the cash and then they give us our a number to bring back to a table or seating of your choice and they bring you your order once it's ready! Very fast service and price is typical and about the same as any other place that serves the same stuff in the Ottawa/Gatineau area... ($10/Poutine, $7.50/Jumbo Hot Dog, $8-$10/Burger) Can't wait to hopefully go back before they have to close for this year and try out...

Tavern on the Island is such a hidden gem in Ottawa! The space is open and beautifully set up — perfect for kids to roam freely while adults unwind. The giant outdoor games are a fun touch, and the whole atmosphere is super relaxed and welcoming.
The food hits the spot with tasty hotdogs and burgers, and there’s a great variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It’s the ideal mix for a laid-back afternoon or early evening out.
What makes it truly special is the setting — with direct access to the river and stunning views, it’s absolutely perfect at sunset. Sitting by the water with a drink in hand while the kids play nearby… you really can’t beat it.
There are porta-potties available on-site — basic but convenient when you’re out with little ones.
Highly recommend for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to enjoy Ottawa in a beautiful, chilled-out setting. We’ll...
Read moreExcellent burgers! We got a mushroom and onion, and a tavern burger. The patty was well-seasoned and perfectly grilled (cooked through but not at all dry). It was juicy and tasty. The sesame bun was fresh and solid enough to hold together till the last bite without breaking down and making a mess. The sauce and toppings complemented the patty and the quantity was just right. Overall, a very well-made burger. We also tried a chili cheese poutine, and though the fries were crisp and fresh, there was too much salt, no squeaky cheese, and we weren't fans of the chili. I'd get the classic poutine next time.
Our order was processed quickly and we didn't have to wait too long to get the food on our table. Location is of course beautiful, by the water, and I imagine looks even prettier at night when it's lit up. Service is quick and polite too. Overall, a great patio...
