Taste Taco Bistro — Restaurant in Parksville

I would give it zero stars if possible. The waitress was rude. The whole experience was so strange it's hard to capture here. Some of the owners responses to these reviews give you an accurate sense of their approach.

We asked for food with tomatoes on the side - a fairly reasonable request I think. For context there was one other group in the place it was not busy. The waitress reacted as though this request was egregious and her rationale was "we can't do that this is Mexican food". Then we asked if we could mix and match tacos - ex if the menu states three tacos for x price we wondered could we try the fish, chicken and pork. The answer was no which is fine - but she really seemed to want us to feel stupid for asking this question. Again super bizarre.

We left without ordering food. It was the strangest most hostile eating out experience I've ever had. Suggest you don't go here

This was the most bizarre restaurant interaction I have ever had. Likely should have read reviews before going there with my party of 3 and 2 small children. Upon reading the confusing sign outside about not being able to accommodate party’s of more than 4 inside we decided to order takeout however when we stated this to the server she was quite rude and asked how big our party was which we indicated was 3 then she went onto indicate why we we couldn’t order anything f it was over 4 people. It was such an off putting and unwelcoming experience we left before even ordering. I understand it is a small establishment however there is ways to still serve people especially when your business is located on resort way in a town that heavily accommodates families. It’s just unfathomable in today’s climate to regularly have people leave your establishment before even eating there. Perhaps the server would do with some reflection on how her tone affects the business negatively. What a...

Tried for the first time today at a friend’s recommendation. Seems we have great friends because this place has a lot going for it.

Well thought out - cool decor, spotlessly clean, a 10/10 washroom, etc. makes for a really pleasant atmosphere.

Then there’s the food - my goodness. Ordered the crab cakes and was impressed by the high quality ingredients, care in preparation, and presentation (see photo).

We also had fish and chicken tacos that were on par with the famous Tacofino (where we just ate a couple days before). However we no longer have to drive 2 hours to Tofino now that we found this little gem.

Came to find out this business has been open for 13 years and is owned and operated by a wonderful couple who live nearby.

We’re proud to support this exceptional establishment whose owners provide such a high level experience at a reasonable price.

We’ll be back again and again and will be telling our “greatest”...
