Do NOT recommend. Gross cleaning, outdated, broken door, no AC, nasty carpets, I could go on. What an ordeal it’s been here. Don’t book here if you want a nice vacation, a clean room, one that’s free from hassle, with properly working units. We bit the bullet and spent almost $700 a night to stay here, thinking that it had to be absolutely incredible. The location to the beach is great of course, but it doesn’t equal out all the issues we had. We stayed in unit 01. The room was so nasty as far as cleaning goes. Pics attached. Moldy all throughout the shower, it’s disgusting. It hasn’t been updated at all, so the carpets look to be 30 years old and when we moved the mat, it was a different colour! Gross!

From the first day we got here, our sliding door stopped opening. We called immediately and asked for a repair. We got here Sunday and they told us they couldn’t repair until Friday. Which is our entire stay. So we couldn’t access our patio the entire stay without having to go out the front door and around. Added to that, it was 33 degrees out and we couldn’t get any cool air in here because we couldn’t open the door to do so! It was a sweat box. Who in 2025 doesn’t have air conditioning? We were so hot we had to drive to a friends house to borrow their portable ac unit and bring it. I was told when I booked the unit, over the phone with a staff member, that “some units have AC” so I requested one with it.

The office staff were friendly, but not overly accommodating. I think they should have hired an outside company to fix the sliding door rather than their handyman so we could properly access the patio during our stay. That’s 99% of what you’re paying for—beach and patio access.

We did bring our complaints to the office staff at least twice asking for help, and although they were friendly, nothing happened. Friendly doesn’t matter if nothing gets done. Finally, we got so fed up halfway through our trip that we thought about just leaving and going home. We talked about it with the office staff who offered one night refund, but we did not think this was sufficient given our entire stay was ruined. We requested three nights out of six be returned, given the issues, and we talked to the president of beach acres, who was very grumpy and refused to do any more than two nights returned. Customer service goes a long way and we didn’t feel we got any of that. We ourselves are Airbnb owners in Parksville and we would never treat guest like this. If something was broken, we would absolutely get it fixed that day. We would (and do) show accurate And updated photos of our unit. We don’t put pretty pictures on our website and then have different photos of what we are renting to people.

The photos on the website are not representative of the units, at least the one that we stayed in. This one is honestly just gross. There is even squished mosquitoes on the wall that hadn’t been wiped off, I mean, come on.

No air conditioning is a big problem. The cleaning was a disgusting. The broken door the entire 6 days(5 nights) was a major inconvenience on many levels. I could go on and on but I’ll let the Pictures speak for themselves.

I’ve only ever written one review in my life besides this one. I am not someone who generally leaves reviews, but I thought it would be important to share this one because people work really hard to be able to Afford somewhere for $700 a night and this is not good Value for money spent. It’s important for places to be transparent, and unfortunately, sometimes it takes people leaving honest reviews for transparency to happen.

We were so frustrated, and uncomfortable that we ended up leaving a day early to go home.

Beyond that, I will let the pictures speak...

Fantastic location with beautiful sunset!

My family and I had a fantastic and relaxing week-long stay at Beach Acres Cottages. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. We stayed in a forest cottage, which was a nice, peaceful retreat, but still gave us easy access to the beach—just a short walk away. The path down to the sand is a bit steep, so you'll want to walk with care, but it's well worth it!

The cottage was cozy and comfortable. We had two bedrooms and kids especially loved the bunk beds, though we found the bottom bunk is best for younger kids (around 6 and under) as it's a bit short. It was handy to have our own personal parking spot right beside the cottage.

The amenities here are great. We spent time playing ping pong, tennis, and pickleball, and the kids loved the swimming pool. It's a huge bonus that you can rent sports equipment directly from the office.

It was super hot when we were there and the office was kind enough to offer us a portable fan.

The beach also has hose to wash off the sand which is a plus.

A little tip for future guests: be sure to pack your own shampoo, conditioner, shower soap, and kitchen essentials like condiments, oil, and tinfoil. Also sand buckets and shuffles. We found that we didn’t use our lounge chairs as there are lounge chairs everywhere.

Overall, it was a wonderful, laid-back experience. We're already looking forward to...

We stayed for 4 nights over Family Day weekend in a spacious 2 bedroom townhouse that is beach accessible. The cabin is dated, but lovely and charming. We enjoyed using the wood fireplace. The parking space for this unit is right beside the mudroom. The unit is at they’ll far corner so it is quiet and peaceful. The suite has a lovely balcony off the main bedroom and a little terrace outside the front door. I imagine this would be lovely during the summertime. You have a beautiful view of the ocean and beach from the main bedroom upstairs. The only thing I wish was better was the cleanliness. The vent in the washroom was covered in dust and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a month. The kitchen doesn’t have a dishwasher which normally doesn’t bother me; however, the dish soap is a cheap no name brand from the dollar store that didn’t lather and it never felt like I could get the dishes, cookware and utensils squeaky clean. Everyone has their own level of “clean” so I think a dishwasher would make guests feel better about the kitchenware being sanitized. If a dishwasher isn’t feasible, at least have good dish soap that will cut through grease and grime.|Overall our family had a lovely time in Parksville and the surrounding area using this resort as our base. We would definitely come back - in the summer - and maybe bring our own dish...

Little individual houses in a beautiful setting with tons of amenities. The staff was great, the grounds well-kept and litter-free, and the buildings are very clean. Good pool/office hours, minutes from a beach where the tide runs wayyyyyyy out, and close to Parksville without being in the town. There is an on-site pub, although it is pricey. Our cottage included 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with a single and bunk beds (all linens included). Each room had it's own closet, dresser etc. Large, full bathroom with double closet. Living room with wood fireplace, flat screen TV, wifi, hideabed couch and love seat. Full kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fullsized fridge and all the cookware you could need. Our unit had a fenced backyard, and all have patio sets. The best part is.. no hotel decor. Sturdy furniture, beautiful artwork and a great decorator's eye make it feel like your own fancy house - with housekeeping! Everything was amazingly clean - the unit, the office, the pool, the grounds - and the staff were all very sweet and informative. Looking forward to going again!
