The Polenta was easily the BEST part of the Beef Cheeks.
The Braised Beef Cheeks is cooked perfectly. Although I wasn't a fan of the actual taste of the beef cheeks, the Polenta was REALLY GOOD. The Beef Cheeks even with the brown sauce still does not taste good. I think it needs a different sauce with spices added to it, Asian style or Latin American style. It's like Birria Tacos but without the salsa & without the Mexican spices. That's what it tasted like. The Polenta was the best part because it tasted very flavourful & when mixed with the beef actually tasted GREAT. I don't think the Braised Beef Cheeks is worth $31 though. I think it's worth more in the $24 - $26 range. The Female Server with the Hair Bun (not the Black woman) has a LOT TO IMPROVE. I understand it's a new store but when I asked her about the Duck Pastrami, she didn't know what that is & had to ask the chef. After discussing with the chef, she told me that Pastrami is a style of cooking when it's actually a type of cured meat, in this case duck is the meat. She then asked me if I needed more water. I said, "Yes, would you be able to bring me a jug of water?" She said, "YES, I CAN DO THAT" very confidently. And then later on, she just poured more water into my cup instead of bringing me a jug like she said she could do. To me, this was just inconsistent. Then she checked up on me after I tried the Beef Cheeks, I asked her what the yellow part underneath the beef cheeks were. She said it was MASHED POTATOES when it's not mashed potatoes. It's the Polenta, the Best Part of the dish. I've never had Polenta before but I really loved the Polenta. It's just too many mistakes by this server. I love the name Love You Mean It. Thank...

There’s simply no place in Peterborough I’d recommend more than Love You, Mean It. I’ve been countless times, and every visit somehow manages to feel both fresh and familiar. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you what going out for a nice dinner is supposed to feel like.
The food is genuinely inspiring. Each dish feels like it was created with purpose, rooted in something honest but always elevated showing careful tweaks before it makes it's way to the menu. My personal favorite is the duck pastrami. It’s unconventional in all the right ways, rich and savory, and easily one of the best things I’ve eaten anywhere. And if you have room for dessert, don’t miss the banana tiramisu. It’s playful, bold, and full of life, exactly the kind of sweet ending you don’t see coming. Sometimes I just get a classic smash burger and share an app... 🤷
The drinks menu is equally well thought out. Whether you’re into clever, creative cocktails or prefer a timeless classic, you’ll find something that feels confident rather than thrown together. There’s care behind every pour and the bar tender is great to ask for suggestions.
But what really sets this place apart is the spirit behind it. You can feel the love in every detail, from the plating to the atmosphere. The owner’s passion is everywhere, and it creates a kind of magic that feels elegant but not boujee.
Love You, Mean It isn’t just a great restaurant, it’s a place that makes you fall in love with dining out all over...
Read moreExcited to have date night at Love You, Mean It on Friday night. Fyi, wear something warm if you’re sitting near the door. Did not get a warm welcome when we entered. We stood there for a few minutes before a gentleman came with a book and a puzzled face…no welcoming smile or greeting. Asked immediately if we had a reservation and by the look on his face I was sure he thought we didn’t and was going to ask us to leave. We did though so he pointed to a table and told to sit there. A little off putting for our first time in this new place. The tables were really close together and because it was busy it was loud and I couldn’t hear anything except other people talking/laughing and no music. I’m not sure there even was any. Our server was prompt and friendly. It was a busy night, our food was good but not excellent and it took quite a long time to come. My mushroom risotto was very good. My boyfriend’s beef shank tasted great but had little bits of bone which made him have to pick through each mouthful and the tiramisu was sheet cake with whipped cream. Not traditional and not good. They did not offer a gluten free dessert and I couldn’t even join my partner with a coffee while he ate dessert because they don’t serve decaf coffee. We had great expectations but we will not be back. Love you,...
