Ok, here we go... I am actually very disappointed to be writing this review, because I have been excited to try The Night Kitchen since moving to Ptbo just over a year ago. The reviews look great, the menu looks even better, so what could go wrong? Well... apparently the entire experience. NOTE: this is not one of those 'I am a bitter person who has nothing to do but be unrealistically rude about restaurants in Ptbo.' I simply tell it like it is, and if I come off as a Karen, then that is your interpretation.
First, I ordered the food online on their exclusive website. I would give a star for their online service because it was fast, efficient, and easy. The payment went smoothly, and it was a great online ordering experience. Would highly recommend.
Next, I arrived the minute my order was said to be ready from the online ordering system. It was a Saturday night, however, I ordered a bit earlier in order to beat the rush. I walked in only to be not greeted by the two female hostesses that were behind the counter, clearly engaging in what seemed to be an interesting conversation. They looked over to me as I walked through the door and then looked away -- no greeting? There was also no one else in the restaurant. I walked up to the counter, already feeling unwelcome, and they both honestly looked at me like I was seriously inconveniencing them by having to serve me. For a moment, I had to think to myself if I was in TO or something. This kind of service doesn't surprise me there, but this is uncommon to experience in Ptbo.
Next, one of the girls asked my last name and proceeded to grab the order (a pizza and cheese bread) from what looked like some sort of heating contraption to keep takeout food from getting cold. I live about a two and a half minute drive from the restaurant, so the quality of the food could not have deteriorated that quickly. I also use a Skip the Dishes bag for my own personal takeout because I am a driver and figure... why not!? lol
Anyway, I got home, only to dig in to a cold, rock hard, overcooked pizza. The toppings were so sparse. I was honestly in shock by how horrible this pizza was. Like I could have gotten something from Pizza Pizza (I seriously dislike Pizza Pizza) for half the price and double the quality. It literally tasted like cardboard. I am also not new to wood fired pizza, so this is not a review coming from lack of experience. The cheese bread. Don't even get me started. What was the point? At least the dough wasn't overcooked, but instead there was probably one tablespoon of parmesan and a sprinkling of parsley on top. For almost $10... I don't think so.
There was literally not one good part of this experience that could have redeemed a less favourable one. Other than the online order service, and that isn't even customer service... I am honestly SO disappointed at this experience. I was looking forward to this pizza that is touted to be the best in Ptbo, only to experience the worst. I can't imagine I will go back unless someone comes to visit and is adamant that they try the pizza, but even still, I would be reluctant.
Do yourself a favour and order from Alba's in Peterborough Square. They are a small business whose pizza is authentic, and their service is awesome. Not to mention their prices are very reasonable. The price that the Night Kitchen has set does not come close to the experience you might expect from what seems on the outside to be a high end restaurant in ptbo.
In sum, for those of you who have had amazing experiences here, I hold onto some hope that there must be an ounce of authenticity at The...
Read moreI would not recommend this place to anyone. My experience there was incredibly disappointing, and it stemmed from a particularly distressing incident.
To start with, although the food was quite good, the service left a lot to be desired. When I went to pay, I was met with condescension and rudeness. Despite my expertise in the technology they were instructing me on, the staff's attitude was dismissive and offensive.
The server not only spoke loudly but was also rude at times. This lack of basic courtesy and respect is unacceptable in any setting, especially in the service industry.
In terms of customer service, I'd give it a negative rating if I could. On a scale from 0 to 10, it deserves a -5. The narrow-minded and uninformed attitudes displayed by the staff suggest a severe lack of education and exposure to diverse perspectives. It seems they have limited opportunities for personal and professional growth, likely because they’ve spent most of their lives working in this restaurant.
I hope this review serves as a warning. No matter how good the food might be, the intolerable service and offensive behavior completely overshadow...
Read moreThe pizza is absolutely incredible! I give them a one star for not being consistent. Two weeks ago I called to place an order because their website said they were still open, only to be told by an employee that they actually close 2 hrs earlier then it says online. That was no problem, I advised them of what the website says and he said they would fix it. TWO WEEKS LATER and I just had the same problem. Both website and Google say they are still open, however, when I call, their closed.
If you guys need someone to take at most an hour to fix this problem, let me know! I'll be glad to help!
Also, If you guys are able to fix this issue in a timely manner, I would be MORE than happy to give you the rating I feel you deserve for...
