Alberni Sushi — Restaurant in Port Alberni

0/10. First time I tried it 1-1/2 years ago it was great. Now it’s horrible, I didn’t get what I ordered. This mistake made me have to pay over 60$! On top of the few rolls I ordered. I ordered sashimi and got brought way more than I ordered. I was taken back by the amount they brought and looked at it.. (I know right then I should’ve said something) I took a bite of the salmon and couldn’t eat it. It was cut poorly, tastes awful. The California roll looked as if it was frozen then thawed out. Cut to big aswell. I do NOT recommend at all. At first the service was ok but the second I mentioned there was a problem I got lipped off, given dirty looks, and told that it was my mistake because I tried it so now they couldn’t save it. I didn’t mind paying the extra 60$ obviously I wasn’t thrilled but I didn’t care. Just upset I was treated so poorly after I brought up a problem and that the tuna and salmon sashimi was AWFUL! ended up paying 114$ when it was supposed so be a quick nice dinner. Service wasn’t good aswell. I recommend alberni sushi up their staff. (You can see how poorly the presentation is in the picture and how “musky” the California...

The food was delicious, and the waitstaff was extremely friendly. The food was affordable. The sushi did fall apart easily but I think that added to the goodness of it. Very flavorful. However, I asked the waitress if the food contained MSG and she asked the chef, I heard from the back the chef getting defensive about it and she came back saying chef told her it was a secret, so I believe MSG is contained in the food. Most sushi does but the fact they wouldn't tell you is a problem as some people have allergies to it. But overall it was a nice atmosphere, very kind waiting staff and good food, good portions for what you pay for I think. I would recommend the dynamite rolls, they are larger than the California roll for only a few cents more. They're also very delicious and it's cooked fish if you aren't a fan of raw. The miso soup is only a couple dollars, it is also pretty good, I would rate it 4.5/5. If you are getting a meal and just want sushi, to save you money I suggest ordering 2 orders of one of the regular rolls. I ordered 6 California rolls, 6 dynamite rolls and a miso soup and my total was only 14.75, a good meal...

My husband and I with my special needs daughter went to Alberni sushi around 5:00pm 31st of May 2024 . We are the only customer and ordered edamame with other dishes in that time . We sitting near window table waiting for the food and my daughter stand up to say hi to outside people . ( the owner/ chef gave my daughter dirty look and told my daughter to get down. This is not a family place with children any kind of Disability. The edamame dish brings to table , we are surprised how small size of dish with edamame( maybe only 10 asking over $6 ). We question about it , the owner / chef stop bring rest of food , kick us out! The service and attitude is unbelievable rude ! It’s so greedy how much charged for such a small quality! Customer have no right to have...
