J & L Drive-In — Restaurant in Port Alberni

It's worth the little extra money to support a local business. I tried their top tier burger the J&L special. Two beef patties, hot dog, bacon, cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato and thousand island dressing.

The burger was better than the big fast food joints. The beef patties tasted like real beef with a nice char flavor. The bun was soft and chewy. Cheese was real cheddar. The hot dog and bacon was good. The things I would like to see is a switch to leaf lettuce. Also, I should substitute the thousand Island sauce for mayo, ketchup and mustard (personal preference).

Service was quick and friendly. She approached my car and took my order. 5 minutes later she came out with the food and took my payment. If I am in town again and looking for a quick bite I...

Haven't been to this city forever never eaten here really just drove through or got gas but local told me this is the place to be I listened got a cheeseburger with spicy poutine fries the milkshake strawberry and chocolate were also devoured so five stars. Even though the server is a vegetarian and she's serving lots of meat products and such her personality was fantastic so the reason I bring it up is because I asked for recommendation and I had to go on with the other locals told me in another vehicle so if you're ever stuck just ask someone around you in their trucks or cars this place is a gem thank you so...

Been a regular customer for many years. Making a point to stop and have a burger and a shake whenever I’m coming through town. Went there today and was very disappointed. The place was busy and spaced out due to Covid social distancing, when we tried to park our motorcycles in an empty spot that was not blocked off we basically got told to shove off because it was staff parking. The waitress was very rude about it and it has tainted my view on this establishment. My riding buddy declares he would never set foot on the property ever again. Definitely left a sour taste...
