I love small businesses and I am very happy to have supported a small business. And I want to make this very clear do not let my review completely make up your mind to not go here, this was just my experience and yours could be very different. So please if you're in the area, check this place out as again you're supporting a small business and this place has cool aspects to it which I will get to. On with the review.
When walking in, I had to do a double take because when I was looking at the photos on Google Maps, I just saw the couch (which is in the reading area) so I was kind of underwhelmed when first walking in. It's also very dim inside (or at least I found so). One thing that is cool though is that this place has food and drinks which is awesome. For example, they have soup! And they also sell reusable cups and reusable straws and stickers!
They have a reading/lounge area inside which is also very cool and comfy. And if you forgot a book, they have tons of books you can read and try out, including children's books. The service was also very fast which was lovely. And they also have some cool decor around the café and it fits with the steampunk vibe.

At the end of the day, this was still a cool place to end up and I was very happy to support a local business. As local businesses are so important and make up...
Read moreToday myself and two friends met at this café to grab a bite to eat and have a cup of tea while reading tarot cards. We were approached by a woman (I assume the owner or manager) who told us we were not allowed to do so because some Christian groups gather there, and apparently two were there at the time we happened to be, and someone complained. My friends and I were extremely hurt by the double standard and the discrimination. We will not be returning. Ever. Clearly your misguided 'Christian values' are more important than creating a space where everyone is welcome. We left immediately after having a couple words with her again as we brought our cups up to the front (including the tea I had not even finished). Jesus Himself would say shame on you. He believed in "live and let live." As well, just because someone is reading tarot does not mean they are against Christianity, or FOR any other kind of religion. Anyone can use tarot cards. I am feeling... just appalled really. In a town where a huge percentage of the population is Indigenous with 4 reserves... how can you be so discriminatory? It's just gross, not to mention completely...
