Whether you're looking for a nice walk and to experience part of Port Alberni or whatever you're coming to Alberni Harbour Quay for, this is a lovely place to be with different types of shops/stores and lots of benches for all your sitting needs.
On Saturday's they have a Farmer's Market and on Sunday's they have a Craft's Market. I haven't been to the Farmer's Market but the early you go from what I have heard, the better. As there will be more produce available. I think the Farmer's Market is from 9AM to 12PM. The Craft's Market is very cool and is from 11AM to 4PM, May to September. I'd recommend checking out both of them if you're nearby!
The Alberni Harbour Quay is right by the water as well which makes it a lovely spot to sit and drink a beverage or eat, of course just make sure to clean up after yourself. There are many handpanted trashcans in the Harbour Quay that are very beautiful. Which you wouldn't think a garbage can could be, but is.
Near the water (right next to the wood fish bench) there is also coin operated viewing binoculars and for $1 you can use them. Which help you see longer distances than with the naked eye.
For car parking, there is quite a bit of parking. Just be mindful it does get full at times. Such as, Saturday's and Sunday's when the market is happening.
And last but not least, for accessibility in case you use a mobility aid of any kind or any other reason. I personally do not use a mobility aid or need one at this point but I want to mention the terrain because maybe it will be helpful to someone. In the Alberni Harbour Quay the terrain is a mix of wood planks (for the boardwalk), pavement and wavy paving stones/bricks.
Overall this a lovely place to come and there are awesome stores and things...

Great views down the channel, too. Got time for a day tour? Take the Barkley down the channel and enjoy the view. Last December, our family saw whales spouting in the distance and sea lions lounging on the shore and traipsed around Bamfield. There's just so much to explore.
