A hidden gem on the waterfront in Port Hardy, offering a great selection of local beers on tap mixed in with Chinese food and traditional pub fare, seriously it was such a unique combination. While in Port Hardy during a long weekend my partner and I couldn't decide on dinner after driving around town and looking for something we happened across the quarter deck, the menu posted at the entrance intrigued us as we both immediately noticed several Chinese dishes on the menu. We decided to give it a try. First we ordered the local Vancouver island beer – hazy IPA, it was delicious and paired incredibly well with our first appetizer. We started off with an order of the deep fried tiger prawns in Kung pao sauce, and honestly it was incredible, the prawns were tender and soaked in a spicy sauce that I felt wasn’t toned down for the local populace and really held true to the more traditional Kung pao sauce, as for the main dishes we ordered a Singapore noodle, now I was expecting a traditional Hong Kong style curry with rice noodles, but the quarter deck has a totally different take on this dish, firstly they use a different noodle and a totally different spice, it was quite good and packed a good bite I wasn’t disappointed but wasn’t sure if it would fit the title Singapore noodle, a great dish nonetheless, the sweet and sour pork was on special so we ordered that, it was a very normal take on the dish and I have no complaints it was fairly decent, and lastly my partner ordered a Singapore laksa noodle soup. All I can say is wow, the broth was really top notch something I wouldn’t have expected to find in such a small town, the flavor was really nice. All in all I definitely recommend a trip to the quarter deck, grab a beer on tap and pair it with the Kung pao prawns, you won’t be disappointed

Probably the only place at Port Hardy serving BUBBLE TEA ! Friendly service. I'm so happy that they can freshly cook a sunny side up egg for breakfast buffet ! I love it !

First off to the chefs: the food was really good. This review isn’t for you and I hope you all look for jobs at a better place. For the 5 of us tonight, this was the WORST service we’ve ever had in our 40ish years on this planet. So comically bad we kept looking for the ‘how polite can Canadians really be’ hidden camera. Our waitress kept making excuses about how swamped she was - the place was less than half full on a Saturday night. Our experience: no menus or any acknowledgement at our table for about 10 minutes 15 more minutes before asking us for a drink order (table beside us loudly and rightfully complaining they were there before us and hadn’t even been acknowledged!) 20 more minutes to get the drinks - one missing! So 45 minutes to get almost a round of beer. And then things went downhill. wrong appetizer. cutlery and napkins dumped on the table in a pile! one dinner didn’t come. Her response: oh and you didn’t order anything sir! bills never came. Went to pay, she couldn’t figure it out. Never asked for more drink orders, or anything of the sort. It was a...

Was good food last summer. This year it sucks. Manager runs around like a chicken with his head cut off rubbing a sticky rag on the tables but not dealing with very poor food quality and servers that serve inedible food and then argue with the customer about it. Don't know what happened but I won't spend another dime on horrible quality food served on sticky tables. Needs an entire staff overhaul. Kitchen, servers and especially kitchen/ bar manager. Not a clue how they stay open. Ultimately Just a matter of time till it's closed unless they rely solely on profits from booze sales which is...
