I used to come here when Tony and his daughters were running it , the food was excellent, the Greek dishes had nice fluffy rice and delicious potatoes roasted the Greek way with a proper Greek salad. BUT ! ... we traveled on our bikes a long way to eat Tony's delicious food and to our horror the staff was replaced and there was a different cook , where's Tony ? The new cook does things his way . The table and cutlerty was sticky the touch . The server tried to take our calamari appetizer away from our table while we where still eating it .I ordered a domestic beer and they brought me a dented can of beer instead of a bottle . He added steamed vegitables mixed into the rice making it soggy and heavy . He doesn't know how to make a Greek salad . Our salad was copped cucumber with onion and just 2 olives with a sprinkle of feta crumbs .( pathetic ) wasn't even chopped the Greek way into cubes it was sliced like garden salad. When we brought this to thier attention and they try to fix it by only offering 10% off . I said it wasn't good enough so they went to 20% . I said that's not right your making us pay for this attempt of a famous dish by giving a discount , then tried offering a free desert , they tried every angle not to refund our money . Finally I said I'm going to talk to Tony , then all of a sudden We only had to pay our drink and appetizers but not the meal that was botched . They finally made things fair but we are still dissapointed with the meal Greek chicken sluvaki it's simply a different cook that doesn't know how to maintain the original recipe, the rice was wrong , the potates were wrong the salad was wrong . New cook and staff could not hold Tony's tradition , and the dishwasher needs training due to sticky cutlery. If you want soup and sandwich , frozen veggies from a bag. Or regular dinerfood give it a try , but I think they should take down the Greek Restraunt sign . The can't...
Read moreUnfortunately, we had a very lack lustre visit to the Carmel restaurant on June 9, 2020. We were the first customers, and upon arrival we were met with a friendly and welcoming waitress. She was the only reason this restaurant gets 2 stars, so shout out to her for excellent customer service. I am without photos since we drove all night and we just wanted some r&r, so my apologies for lack of evidence. Our 1st incident was one set of silverware had little chunks of leftover food on it, but the waitress was quick to replace them. We caught the cook on a really bad day. We ordered the eggs benedict, the seniors 2 pancakes, and 2 eggs with everything. I am not a picky eater by any means, but my eggs benedict was really bad. The hollandaise sauce was very salty and the shredded hashbrowns that came with were undercooked. The senior's 2 pancakes are described as fluffy, but are not fluffy. They are dense and come from a package; the batter was overwhelmingly floury. The 2 eggs came with 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes and shredded hashbrowns. The eggs were an exception, but the bacon was burnt not crisp, the sausage was flavorless and perhaps past due date since they were grey on the inside, the hashbrowns were undercooked, and the pancakes were again dense - not fluffy. The coffee was questionable in terms of flavor so much so that the store bought orange juice was the only thing good about the entire meal. The meal was extremely disappointing, and not a great start to our visit to PG. $51 was still too much after using the vouchers we received for our stay. Two family members ended up with upset stomachs because the pancakes were just too dense and hard to digest. I don't say this often, but save your money, and try a more...
Read moreI was here for dinner tonight, Easter Sunday. I walked in and was served immediately, a good start. I asked for water which I also received immediately. I asked for the special which I received quickly. Service was fast, but I felt rushed. Food was good, piping hot and tasty. There was just something about the way I was served. Maybe it's because I was alone, maybe it's because they were busy. Nobody was using trays, carrying plates barehanded, finger or thumb on edge of plate, I saw one server carrying four plates of food this way. I might have been impressed, but it kooked wrong. My server plopped my dessert on the table, not even a plate, clean fork or at the least a napkin underneath. I spoke to a person whom I presume was the shift manager who gave me 50% off my tab and agreed the presentation lacked something. My problem is that I felt unwelcome. Even after speaking to the woman in charge, I didn't get the coffee I requested, just the bill and a mumbled apology from the server. I often eat out with my daughter and granddaughters. We appreciate good food and good service. There's a point though, where it crosses a boundary between good service and a 'I just want you gone' attitude. The latter is what I received tonight. I don't think I will suggest this place to my daughter for our next...
