Allô mon Coco — Restaurant in Quebec

We visited this branch for brunch four days back while on a vacation to Quebec City. Our experience was below par. We are a regular to this chain of restaurants in Ottawa and are well aware of everything in the menu and how they work.

However this particular place was a sad experience. My husband and I, both requested for scrambled egg whites for our choice of eggs. They took our order and when they brought back our plates, they served us omelettes. So we reminded them respectfully that we had ordered scrambled. She said oh yes, let me take your plates back. However another waitress came back within a second saying that they don't do scrambled for egg whites (Which is not true at all in Ottawa given our experience for years). So we politely advised that we are surprised because in Ottawa they do serve it. To which they brought our plates back in a matter of seconds with the same omelettes cut up/diced in tiny pieces. We ate without further conversation with them because clearly they weren't 'in mood' to be receptive.

Horrible experience. Not coming back. Not so much because of the omelette but just the way the lady spoke to us rudely implying either we aren't welcome or ahem maybe we don't...

The food was okay but the service was pathetic. At first when we got the bill, other table's order was added to our bill. We checked that things we did not order were added to the receipt and quickly got that changed. The receipt we were provided had the tip suggestions circled and when we asked for the machine, the server added the 15% tip by themselves and did not even give us the option to choose the tip. This is unacceptable to me. Tip is something we choose to give based on the experience and service we have received not a compulsory thing added to the bill. We were not 6 people so this is not gratituity that was added in any way. We changed the amount and cancelled the tip. Ce n’est pas ma première expérience à Allô mon coco. J’y suis allée à quelques reprises à Châteauguay. J’ai toujours eu un service excellent et un repas succulent. À toute les fois, j’ai pris un mimosa Lavande pétillante et l’omelette gourmande légumes grillés.

Je suis allée à la succursale de Québec sur le boulevard Laurier.

Nous avons débuté avec un café et la serveuse a échappé du café à côté de chaque tasse, n’apportant aucun essuie-main pour nettoyer le tout. (Tout au long du repas, on a du demander du café et le café a été versé aussi sur la table à chaque coup, sans rien pour essuyer.)

Par la suite, nous avons commandé puis lorsque j’ai reçu mon omelette, elle était trop cuite par endroits et à d’autres, mouillés sous la sauce balsamique. De plus, mes frites étalent aussi sur de la balsamique.

J’ai essayé d’en manger, mais le goût était trop prononcé. Voyant que ceci n’était pas goûteux et ne donnait plus l’envie d’en manger, j’ai demandé à avoir un autre choix, car il est clair que les standards ne sont pas les mêmes de succursale en succursale.

On m’a alors dit qu’il n’était pas possible de changer d’assiette sans me charger, car les portions étaient comptées et que la responsable de la cuisine avait bien fait son travail. Je leur ai dit que je n’allais pas payer pour quelque chose que je n’avais pas mangé et qui n’était pas bon.

C’est alors qu’elle m’a dit : « Je peux te le refaire gratuitement, mais je ne peux pas te donner un autre choix sans te charger cette omelette. » Un plat dont j’avais pris deux bouchées.

Donc, ils ont voulu refaire une omelette qui coûte beaucoup plus cher à reproduire que me faire une simple sandwich aux tomates. Il me semble qu’il aurait été plus concevable de faire une sandwich aux tomates pour rendre sa cliente heureuse et aussi, cela leur aurait coûté moins cher également. Nous aurions été les deux gagnants.

C’était ma première fois à cette succursale et ce sera ma dernière. Je ne suggèrerai pas cet endroit à quiconque me demandera.
