Buffet des Continents - Québec — Restaurant in Quebec

A few years ago, I dined at this buffet restaurant and had a fairly good experience. However, when I returned today with my family for lunch, I was extremely disappointed. The quality of the food has declined significantly—not only does it taste worse than before, but it also falls short compared to other buffet restaurants.

What was even more upsetting than the food was the terrible service. In particular, one female server was shockingly rude and aggressive—unlike anything I’ve ever encountered in any restaurant. She led me to a table, but I noticed another empty table nearby with more space around it, which would be more convenient for my elderly family members with limited mobility. When I asked if we could sit at the other table, she refused, saying it hadn’t been cleaned and insisted we sit where she told us to.

At that moment, a male server kindly offered to clean the table for us and asked us to wait a moment. While we were waiting, the female server suddenly stormed over and loudly demanded to know why we weren’t sitting at the table she had assigned. I explained that the other server had offered to clean the other table for us, but she continued to yell at me, insisting we sit where she had told us. Her tone was harsh and commanding, completely inappropriate for someone in the service industry. I’ve dealt with unfriendly service before, but never with someone so openly rude and disrespectful.

Throughout the interaction, I remained calm and polite, but she showed absolutely no respect toward me. What puzzled me even more was why she wouldn’t allow us to sit at one of the many empty, clean tables—this was around 1 p.m., and the restaurant was far from full.

I had already paid the full price for the buffet and even left a generous tip upon entering, yet what I received was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. My advice: if you don’t want to waste your money, don’t go to this restaurant. The poor quality of the food and the appalling service will leave you...

Great place overall. The food is not bad, although, through its enormous variety, there are some dishes that are really mediocre. Some of the food is amazing, but some of it is not that good. The sushis aren't the best but are okay, the meat that is already prepared isn't really good, but the meat that the cook prepares in front of you is phenomenal, even though there are usually a lot of spices. The customer service is okay, although it could be much, much better for the 15% mandatory customer service tip. I think water could be brought more quickly, the plates would be taken away faster, and the service could be much more friendly. It could be better. It is acceptable, mostly because the Buffet isn't a high-class restaurant. Finally, I think it is a great place to go to eat quickly and that it is the best place you could go if you don't know what you want to eat. You will find what you need. Unfortunately, I find myself in the need to put 3 stars out of five because of the poor quality of quite a few dishes, and the very, very poor customer service. Honestly, I think that 3 stars is a bit harsh so I would give it 3.5...

I am not one to usually write reviews unless its amazingly good or really bad, in this case I have to just to help some fellows who are looking to have a nice dining experience. My Fiance and I visited Quebec City from Toronto for my birthday and chose this place to dine as the other nice places were booked up and we thought since we are in a new place buffet would be a good idea as there is usually something to eat for everyone. None of us are super picky eaters but this place was a disappointment unfortunately. The food was not fresh whatsoever, did not taste well, the staff who was serving from other side of counter were not friendly and, it was awkward to ask for each thing we wanted from someone who is not happy to be there. I guess it makes sense that they could care less as the place made us tip them before we entered so they had nothing to worry about. We walked out within 15 minutes without barely eating anything and ended up finding a cute patio in Quebec City.
