TLDR:  No frills dinner with nice dishes.  A breakfast for 2 will cost between $30 - $40 US Imagine time traveling to a 16th-century inn.  The kind smile of the host guides you to your seat. Surrounded by brick and large stone blocks, all you hear is the hum of the dessert cooler and the light music. You look over the very extensive menu.  Since it's still morning, you decide on getting (what else but) French Toast with maple syrup and sausage links. The French toast ($13.95) is the thin kind.  Very eggy.   Almost like eating quiche.  It comes with a small side of mixed fruit. The maple syrup is not some special Canadian type.  It's just the same as you would find at any regular American dinner.  Like iHope or something. The sausage ($4.75) did have a cleaner taste.  Less salty, but again, it was not something you would differ from a place like Denny's. I also got orange juice, ($5.95) which was just regular Tropicana style orange juice.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!(keep reading) The food was well overpriced for its quality. I had an omelette with bacon, potatos, onion and herbs(not sure what those fruits were doing there, maybe something healthy for after). Food was very greasy and no taste. But the worst came at the end... Waiting in line to pay, the customer in front of me decided not to include tips in his card(his wife was looking for something on her purse, maybe cash for the tips), the cashier got angry and told him he had to pay his tips on the card and then she bad mouthed him, in French, to the person next to her(little I know of French, it was a swear). While I'm waiting for the machine to use my card, they continued talking about him... He then left without leaving any tip. Finally, The treatment he received cost them any tips I could give.

My group of 10 and I were looking for a quick lunch while exploring Carnaval just down the street. We were enticed by the 2 for $10 mimosa sign outside and quickly seated. The staff were quite nice offering to take a group photo for us (though one person was cut out of every photo lol), joking around, and chatting to our group. What we got: - Mimosas - French Onion Soup - Croque Monsieur Final Thoughts: Food was quite underwhelming besides the mimosa deal. I've had better onion soup and also almost choked on a bay leaf stem in my soup. The croque monsieur was kind of cold and dry. It also didn't seem to come with a bechamel sauce either so very different from our expectations. I would only come back for the mimosa deal.

We recently dined at this restaurant, and while the experience had some positives, it was unfortunately marred by unacceptable behavior from one staff.

Positives:

• The location and ambiance were excellent, with comfortable seating arrangements and good vibes. • The food tasted good, and the wine collection was decent. • I ordered the white fish, and my wife had the vegetable au gratin, both paired with white wine.

Concerns:

• The food, although tasty, was extremely overpriced.

However, the most disappointing part of our experience was the behavior of the waiter assigned to us. He was not Canadian and seemed far more focused on securing a large tip than on providing good service. At one point, he offered a spicy sauce to make our food spicier, which was appreciated. But what followed was unacceptable.

Towards the end of the meal, he became increasingly aggressive about the tip, citing his family situation and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Despite our gesture of leaving a reasonable tip, which we believed appropriate, he raised his voice in front of other diners. To our shock, he went on to make racial comments about India, right in front of the restaurant owner, who appeared indifferent to the commotion.

It was disheartening that the management did not intervene as this waiter’s loud, discourteous behavior disrupted not only our evening but likely affected other guests as well. For a family visiting Quebec for the first time, this was an unfortunate and disappointing experience.

We hope the management addresses such unprofessional conduct to prevent future guests from facing similar treatment. Such behavior only tarnishes the reputation of your restaurant and Quebec...

The service was great. We are traveling as a large-ish group (5) with an infant on top of that. They accommodated us very well. They gave us a large table and took our stroller aside and gave us a high chair with a tray. We were grateful for the space and the ability to help with our baby.

The food.... Well, we went for dinner and they had a series of specials. It seemed great. Choice of soup or salad, main, and dessert. We each ordered a different item, but all decided on the salad. The salad came with very little dressing, which is typically fine, but it was basically lettuce, bell peppers, and onions (white onions). Not at all the refreshing salad any of us were looking for. Once our main dish arrived, there was an additional salad on each of our plates. At this point we all regretted ordering the salad as our starter. This second salad was merely lettuce and had a sweet mustard dressing. Much better!

All of our main dishes seemed to be cooked as bulk tray items which they would just take what was necessary as people ordered. It wasn't super fresh, and was overall, underwhelming.

For dessert we had two options, which are not advertised before it is time for dessert. They were not bad, I just like to be informed. Either cheesecake with cherries or a mocha hazelnut cake. I ordered the cheesecake and again was underwhelmed. It wasn't very cold and seemed to be missing the normal sweet factor you expect cheesecake to offer. My family did not mention anything regarding the other option.

The food is okay, not terrible, but probably not worth the price. The accommodations were incredible, and the staff were...

This was our first visit. We were seated quickly and our server came by after 5 minutes to take our drink order. Drinks arrived in a timely manner, but our server was more interested in making change between her cash till and her purse (for her tips) then taking our food order. We waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes and finally asked the gentleman in the sport coat, who appeared to be in charge, if we could put our food order in. He immediately called to our server and she promptly came to take our order. (3 poutines, 2 that were smoked meat and one with crispy chicken). 2 of the 3 arrived to the table correctly while the other had no chicken. My wife offered to eat it as it was but they brought her plate back to the kitchen for five minutes to add the chicken.

We also had to ask for our bill.

One glass of wine, 2 beers and 3 poutine came to $135.00. My wife and I have paid higher prices in the city and will gladly pay higher prices if the "full experience" makes sense. Subjectively this was over priced for the quantity, quality and service.

We will continue to try different restaurants when we visit. If you are traveling and have never been to Old Quebec there are several other restaurants you will enjoy more...
