100 / 10 place!!!
Atmosphere: the upstairs seemed noisy due to hustle and bustle of the people but the downstairs “cave” area was nice and quiet. You’d forget where the food was coming from. You could settle in, relax, chit chat as the food arrives. I was told not to do a reservation so I had not. There was a small line up at the front but all were very quickly seated. Food: a taste of Italy in Vieux Quebec! Had some calamari and fries. Crispy all around! A nice size to share some munchies. Had the La Trapanese and La Pescatore pizzas. Thin crust, creamy cheese! Honestly tasted like what you’d get from a small Italy eatery! It was so good, we ordered another round of pizza! Had the Lemoncocco… lemon and coconut drink. No sugar, no fizz… just a nice subtle drink to pair with the pizza. If i wasn’t so full, I would have had some dessert. I saw some creme brulee and tiramisu floatingg around. The presentation of both seemed like fine dining… right down to the detail in decoration! Service: saved the best for last. I did not imagine how quick such a restaurant could be. We were seated quick, given water immediately, and had just enough time to think about the menu and place an order. The appetizer came incredibly fast! With the amount of guests they were dealing with, it was unimaginable to think that the service could be as quick. The main course took a bit of time but it was evident that no person stopped moving around to make sure everyone got attention and proper service. That no group feels like the service was rushed. They would be focused on, explained the menu if needed and served accordingly. From beginning to end, the service was absolutely exceptional! Unfortunately I couldn’t get the name of the individual serving us, but thank you for the incredible service you provided!!
If you are in Quebec, make sire to try put Polina Pizzeria… you will not be disappointed! Whenever I am back in Quebec, I’ll make sure I’m back again for another visit. This place is worth going to over and over again. Quebec… you are...
Read moreMy husband and I have always struggled to find a restaurant accepting of our dog to go out to eat. After some research, I came across this restaurant online that had positive reviews about allowing pets. We were hoping that it would be okay, even though our dog is not a smaller sized dog. When we called to ask, we spoke to Alexandra - the owner, she was understandably a bit hesitant about the size of our dog, but we were confident even with her size, she'd behave really well and crossed our fingers it would work out. We let them tell us a time that would work for them to reserve a spot because we would absolutely take any acceptance to be able to enjoy a dinner out for our last night. We actually did not expect to be seated inside the restaurant and prepared to sit outside.
When we got there, we realized they were trying to work out an area INSIDE the restaurant which made us even more appreciative of them willing to accomodate and accept us.
On top of this excellent customer service, once we got seated in a private area in the basement, we ordered the antipasti plate and both had pizzas. The food was absolutely amazing! I was looking forward to an authentic Italian meal, being from an Italian background. The food was fresh and tasted local. The antipasti 10/10, one pizza we got a size small "Dolce Vita" my husband as the it all, I got the mini "La Pollina" pizza and that was PERFECT portion for me to finish. The pizza was thin, had generous toppings and tasted fresh 10/10.
At the end of the evening, even though they were basically closed, they still made a cappuccino for us and then we're so nice and attentive to our dog Bridget - they brought her a custom puppuccino! Alexandra and the other staff were amazing and so attentive to Bridget. They all love dogs, and if you are looking for a go to dog accepting restaurant, this is your go to! I'd recommend them 100x over and we now have a place in Quebec City we know we'll be accepted!
Thank you again Alexandra! We need more people and...
Read moreUnfortunately, we didn‘t have a good experience at this restaurant and can‘t recommend it. After a 10 minute wait, we were seated and our waitress appeared sometime later. She was very distracted all the time and while taking our order, she was talking with guests from another table. We ordered 2 pizzas (we were 2 persons), which she couldn‘t seem to believe. After we reassured her that we really want to order 2 pizzas, she wrote it down and we hoped that everything would work out. After a while, the first pizza arrived. We were already wondering why not both pizzas arrived at the same time, but of course there can be a little delay. However, my husband was already almost done eating and I still hadn‘t received my pizza. There was also no waitress in sight. After a while, she came to our table and asked whether everything is alright (even though she didn’t really seem interested in the answer). I told her that I still hadn‘t received my pizza and she was in disbelief. She did not believe me and asked me several times „there is no pizza?“ and I told her several times that obviously there isn‘t and that only my husband had received his. I was really getting annoyed at that point - it is one thing to make a mistake, it happens. But how you react is the other, more important part. She was so unprofessional and unfriendly, I was really shocked. After finally believing me that I did not receive my order, she promised to take care of it. It took a long time until my pizza finally arrived and it was another waiter who had to bring it to our table and he quickly apologized for the delay. From our waitress, I am still waiting for an apology until this day. She was so over the top, distracted all the time (which probably led to this problem anyway) and really ruined our evening. It might be a totally different experience for other guests who are lucky enough to enjoy a better service but I can only share our experience. The pizza wasn‘t exceptional either and medium size was...
