The flavours here aren’t just flavours, they’re a journey. Each dish felt like a guided experience, not just a plate of food. Chef Tim walked us through every detail: what it was made with, what it was infused with, and somehow… it all actually made sense.

This isn’t one of those restaurants where you’re bombarded with posh words that make you feel out of place, where you smile and nod, but secretly think, what on earth did they just say?

You know the type: you sit there politely, waiting for the monologue to end so you can finally dig in, only to take a bite and think, oh… that’s it?

No surprise. No joy. Just the disappointment of another overhyped, under-flavoured bite. And that’s exactly why most of us prefer the non-fancy spots, they don’t waste your time. They punch you in the face with flavour.

But this place… this is different.

You take a bite, and flavour one arrives. Then you hit the centre, and flavour two bursts through, layered with hints of something else. Then comes the aftertaste, whispering a third wave of something unexpected but familiar. And the beauty is, you know what you’re tasting. Because Chef Tim told you, and you actually understood. He speaks like a real person. And that makes all the difference.

This isn’t just dining. It’s connection. It’s warmth. It’s playfulness. It feels like being in a friend’s kitchen, if that friend just happened to be a Michelin star level chef.

They’re not Michelin yet… but I’m telling you now: they will be.

Chef Tim, you’ve created something truly rare. A place where everything gives, and nothing disappoints. To anyone reading this: if you haven’t tried his food, I’m sorry to say, you might be the unluckiest person alive.

This is more than food. It’s flavour, fun, feeling, and it’s exactly what the world...

This restaurant is more than just a place to eat, it is a unique and refreshing experience. The staff (a team of 3 - including the chef) are hospitality experts and will make you feel very cared for. Surprisingly, this is a no tip restaurant, even though you’d be hard pressed to find a restaurant where you are better attended to.

The team works on a philosophy of sustainability and environmental stewardship - they use only sustainable and humane ingredients produced within 50 km of Quebec City. They explain their philosophy in a story like format, which is all a part of the wonderful expedience.

This brings me to the food. Not only is it delicious, it’s creative. Prepared to be served a dish you’re going to continue thinking about well into the future. It’s interesting, unique, and completely satisfying. It may seem expensive at first glance, but considering the quality of ingredients and built in tip, you’re getting a deal.

Try this restaurant. You won’t be...

Restaurant Alentours is changing the food system as we know it! Daily changing menus with exclusively local ingredients showcase the bounty of Quebec and the skill to cook within the limitations of regional availability. I also appreciated knowing that “sustainability” for Alentours includes a living wage for its employees. Alentours acknowledges the cost of food when producers, employers, and the environment are all treated with respect!

As for our experience— The ambience is warm and inviting with sleek, comfortable decor. All staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The food was delightful and inspired — highlights were the amazingly light and crisp samosa and a lamb pita I cannot stop thinking about. The wines were well curated and delicious — it is impressive that excellent wines can be produced in the Nordic growing climate. I cannot wait to go again and experience a...

My group all agreed this was our best restaurant experience in Quebec City. The food was exceptional, so well thought out, the produce so fresh. The cocktails were amazing too (white wine sangria with cantaloupe was a standout!) And the strawberry pavlova dessert……..wow what an ending……. That was an out of body experience for me!!! I still have dreams of it!!! Then the staff…so kind and welcoming! We loved learning about the whole philosophy and process of the restaurant. Please support them! To note, half of the group got the vegetarian tasting menu and both menus were equally exceptional. If you had one thing to do in Quebec City, it has to be dining here.

We had an mazing five course meal at Restaurant Alentours, which deservedly just made the list of Canada’s top 10 new restaurants. 5 stars across the board… creative, delicious menu with all food from within Canada and nearly all within 150 km of Quebec City. They use all hydroelectric power and no fossil fuels. They only source food from sustainable producers with minimal environmental impact, etc. In short, it’s what all restaurants should be doing. If you’re nearby, and by nearby, I mean within about 12 hours, you have to try it. We drove 6 and a half hours to get here, and Chef Tim Moroney and his team exceeded expectations!
