SHAKER Cuisine & Mixologie Ste-Foy — Restaurant in Quebec

On Thursday morning/noon I ordered a veggie burger because I'm vegetarian. First they brought it with bacon pieces on top; that alone was very distressing (to realize I had a mouthful of animal flesh in my mouth). I politely asked them to try again. The next one was hamburger with no bacon. I didn't know it was real hamburger (rather than veggie burger) until after I ate it and felt very sick - the type of sick which would only happen when accidentally eating so much meat (as a vegetarian). I felt awful for hours. I have never felt that way when eating other veggie burgers; I thought this one was just another very convincing one (and even asked my neighbour to taste it for me first). In short, do not visit here if you have a food allergy or dietary needs. They do not take you seriously or care about your wellbeing. Even though the menu boasts they can substitute a veggie burger for any hamburger if you ask, the waitress and I had a very clear discussion about it before I consented to order one and still the establishment did not show me respect on this front, even when I gave them two chances. Psychologically distressing and physically unwell.

However if you have no allergy at all, or just go for a drink, you will likely find quite pleasant the skilfully-lit architecture inside, the music, and the casually-classy nature of the ambiance. Midday weekday is a good time to go. The creme brulee is apparently delightful, if I remember from long ago. The wait staff is attentive and they smile sincerely when serving you.

Myself, I will not chance the actual food here again.

I hope this review is helpful for you. I do regret the necessity to offer just one star on this otherwise classy place with the warm atmosphere. Simply when I request vegetarian, it must be vegetarian, as not only is accidently eating meat very distressing, but can also make long-term vegetarians...

Tout d'abord je tiens à présenter ma situation. Je suis actuellement en échange universitaire à Québec depuis 2 mois aujourd'hui.

J'étais au premier abord très heureux de mon expérience dans ce bar. L'ambiance était au rendez-vous et j'ai pu rencontré de fabuleuses personnes. La nourriture est correcte et n'est pas hors de prix pour un étudiant. De plus, je salue un grand choix varié de cocktails qui font honneur à la mixologie où tout le monde pourra trouver son bonheur. Il est aussi maintenant possible de danser, de quoi se changer les idées surtout avec le contexte actuel.

Depuis mon arrivée à Québec, je me rendais une, deux à trois fois par semaine avec mon groupe d'ami dans ce bar/restaurant. Cependant, depuis mon expérience hier je n'y retournerai plus. J'ai malheureusement perdu (ou l'on m'a volé) un bijou précieux d'une valeur sentimentale inestimable dans la soirée du Vendredi 26 Novembre. Je me suis rendu compte de cela en rentrant chez moi, j'ai fait donc demi-tour rapidement pour retourner au bar en sachant que celui-ci était probablement fermé. En arrivant à la Pyramide, je suis directement allé voir au Shaker s'il y avait des personnes qui travaillaient encore. Et c'est alors que j'ai découvert un côté très mesquin et irrespectueux de la part du personnel. En arrivant, en pleurs, devant au moins 5 personnes de ce bar, on m'a jeté ouvertement avec un manque de respect que je n'avais jamais expérimenté auparavant. Je cite : "Nous sommes fermés, il faudra revenir demain. Merci au revoir." le tout en me claquant la porte au nez au sens littéral. J'étais outré de cette réponse. Vous travaillez de nuit, et croyez moi ou non je sais ce que c'est, je comprends complètement que vous soyez pressés de rentrer chez vous pour vous reposer, d'autant plus quand votre service est terminé depuis 40 minutes. Mais j'étais en détresse devant tout ce personnel et personne ne m'a tendu la main. Désolé, mais vous êtes décevants et faites preuves d'un manque de professionnalisme qui peut-être répond aux attentes de votre poste, mais il ne répond pas à mes exigences d'un bar comme le votre. C'est maintenant que je réalise que vous ne portez pas d'attention à vos clients.

Point positif, je me suis rendu ce matin au bar pour savoir si ma bague avait été trouvée. L'équipe qui m'a accueilli a été très compréhensive et m'a même aidé à la chercher. Encore merci.

A group of friends and I went last night for food and drinks. It was my first time going and I'm sure it will be my last. This is unfortunate because it is completely due to our poor service. Our waiter was entirely unfriendly towards us, to the point of coming across short and rude. We had to wave him down multiple times for things as he barely checked in on our table. We were really disappointed. We were a group of 7 and as such, spent a lot of money. We deserved at least friendly service because I can assure you, we were friendly and polite.
