Quesnel Bakery isn’t just some cutesy mom-and-pop operation riding on nostalgia. No. This place is the real deal. I drive 700 bloody kilometres north and still make it a point to stop here every time. Why? Because Quesnel, thank your lucky stars, you’ve got a five-star bakery hidden in your midst — and not the kind that serves up dry scones and sad muffins. No, this one delivers. Let’s talk about those warm pretzels. Jesus. Just the right slight of salt, soft on the inside, that beautiful chew on the crust. Not rubbery, not soggy — properly done. Like someone in the back actually gives a damn. And the custard-filled Long John’s? Don’t get me started. Rich, silky custard — not that claggy, store-bought nonsense — and a pastry that actually holds its shape instead of collapsing like a bad soufflĂ©. It's indulgent, it's nostalgic, and it's bloody fantastic. And the staff? Absolute legends. They’ve got that small-town charm, but they’re sharp. Quick service, warm smiles, and they actually talk to you — not stare at you like you’ve just asked for foie gras in a gas station. Quesnel, you’ve struck gold here. 💛

41 years ago this August 2017 Horst and Christa Teetzan headed to this quaint town with an idea. Today it has grown to a well established family café on one of the main streets in town. Horst would tell you that he is proud to be a local bowling champion and that his son Gerd carries on the family business with passion. We stopped in and delighted in some of the local gossip, picked up an incredible loaf of Farmers Rye Bread, and admired a lot of the in house made delicacies. I'm told that the apple fritters are the most popular. You can also preorder buns and cakes. Stop in for some yummy local treats with their friendly staff.

Authentic pretzels, excellent sourdough and rye breads. Excellent variety of cookies, squares and other sweets. They even sell homemade dog treats. Small area for seating and coffee/tea available. Bonus a clean public washroom. Our favorite bakery in Quensel!

They have a Que that is friendly. People that can’t decide simply rejoin at the rear. With one cashier you will be greeted by another staff member who will start your order. That’s not a guarantee because they might be busy making my large, strong cappuccino.

The reason for all this is the food. I have my favorite go to apple fritter but this often loses out to the many other wonderful choices. Then there are the breads, cakes squares and muffins. The sausage rolls, sandwiches and soups. Eat in or takeout. A street side pergola with hanging baskets and flower đŸŒș pots for some fresh air off a quiet street.

If you’re just passing through and want something better than Subway this is the place. If you’re traveling companions are into Subway you have struck gold in the CARIBOO! There is a very nice Subway next door. When you turn north onto front street hang a left at the Safeway. After you eat you can walk it off with a stroll south along Reid Street. It’s one way with four way stops. So...

This place has the best food ever made. Fresh and lots of choices. Holiday centered items. Good prices and sales on day old products ect. Gluten free , the sugar cookies and gingerbread. Daughter loves it all lol. Has a few tables inside and some outdoors for the summer time. Cozy and quaint. The staff is wonderful and so very very friendly, happy and helpful. They also make birthday cakes and I believe cakes for other occasions such as graduations, weddings ect. They do it all! Best bakery in Quesnel. Location is convenient on the main street of the town. So, that being said....do not go here and buy my favorites - I do not want to lose out on them đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł oh, the also have sandwiches as well as a coffee station and tea station. Perfect. I forgot to mention it...
