Amazing food, huge portions! Prices are moderate but not cheap - absolutely worth it once you see the portion sizes. Food is cooked to order and the chef is close - he often visists with customers and checks on how the food is received etc. He is very involved, either from behind the window in the kitchen making loud jokes as he puts food up, or out visiting his guests and checking on the food. Kids meal portions are large too, and the kitchen is considerate of getting kids food out as fast as possible. One of our family has Celiac disease and the chef worked with us to identify the best thing he could make for her that was completely gluten free. We were down to Quesnel for a wedding and were looking for something fast but still good for us. Heavy D's was conveniently located so we gave it a shot. We have a small toddler that was hungry and being a bit curious and the owners were so wonderful to him. They gave him some balloons and some treat as well as taking care of his meal which they absolutely did not have to do but it was such a kind gesture we were touched. My husband and I got the legendary pulled pork sandwich and it was so much food we shared it with our family. The food is incredible. The service and kindness of these people is something even more incredible. This place deserves so much respect and support from the community. Next time we visit we will definitely be back. They always have great food! I don't usually like coleslaw and would rather throw it in the garbage than even taste it, but their coleslaw in their Pulled Pork Sandwich is absolutely great. It's actually changed my mind on coleslaw.
The serive is just as great as their food. The owner is nice. He had thought our food was late and felt bad so gave us 2 free soda and apologized profusely. He also loves helping out the local community on many occasions. For instance he helped a old lady who had her money stolen and he helped raise money and donated some of his personal money as well.
