Hey guys. I'm here to share my negative experience that I had with Boston Pizza North's management team. I am a SkiptheDishes courier part time, and am a now-former customer. I think your hard earned money is spent off in better places. (Two part review - it's a long one ;) )
This statement details the events that occurred between myself when I was NOT ON SHIFT at Skip the Dishes, but driving by Boston Pizza North.
Approx. 11:15 PM, Monday, December 10, 2018.
Not on shift, driving by, thought I would stop into Boston Pizza North to check in on my pizza bag that I had lost about a week and half before, just before I went to Vancouver for the BC portion of my current tour (I'm a musician/public figure). I dealt with one individual very politely, this individual got the manager on duty. The manager immediately gave me a belittling tone, saying the bag got thrown out. I was okay with that, until he started accusing me of giving the staff a hard time, saying that a Skip courier who forgot their bag was "disrespectful and not willing to pay for a bill." . I'm respectful to all staff at every restaurant as I have countless years of customer service experience, including management. AND, I have always always paid for CASH orders when the occur no problem. I respectfully explained that he must of been mistaken, but he continued to press, clearly with a disgruntled tone. He just said "I dont have your bag man. Not my problem. You should have been more responsible." The condescending belittling, aggressive, threatening tone was no where near professional or appreciated. It displays a lack of mental security, judgment calling, and maturity that is typically required of employees, especially management. I gave a remark that he must be having a bad day, then I left the building. I sat in my car for a moment, thought about it, and thought maybe I could provide a solution. I entered the building again, asking him what his name was so that I could phone Skip and figure out what went wrong, and he immediately gets defensive and says that he doesn't have to provide his name. He returns to the counter, removing his name tag, and then starts to discriminate me about the clothes I am wearing. He referenced to my toque which had the symbol of a marijuana leaf, which has been legal in Canada since October 17, 2018. I was not on shift nor did he have the right to judge and discriminate me solely off what I was wearing or what he assumed to be true. I become frustrated and start questioning his management, his knowledge, and his maturity, and he proceeds to state that I do not have the right to talk like I was. I become even MORE defensive, and angry at this time, that this individual who is an apparent manager, was acting like such a child because he was in a place of authority. He asks me to leave the building after refusing to acknowledge my arguments, and after refusing to give me his name, he proceeds to violate my personal property outside of the building by taking pictures of my vehicle. Without my name, or just reason for doing so. I informed the individual that I would be filing complaints. This is the follow through of that action. There is no need from this type of behavior at ALL, fro any sort of management. A good manager would have handled the situation much more professionally. This individual had no evidence that I was even the person he was accusing of, and I would gladly prove that I was not. You could look at every camera encounter (there SHOULD be cameras in that building) and it would be discovered the manager was...

The next day, I called the location to see if I could speak to another manager about the incident. A lady by the name of Sue answered, and we were both very polite with each other. We greeted each other nicely, she asked me how my day as, and I proceeded to explain what had happened. Sue informed me that the gentleman in question had left a note, so I explained my side of the story, and also my intention to file a formal complaint. Sue told me that she would speak with this individual, and that Boston Pizza WOULD NEVER throw away Skip bags because they are costly. She asked me for my name and phone number, which I provided gladly. She said she would call me back later that evening. That call never came. It did not the next day. What I did receive was an email from Skip the Dishes saying that there was a complaint against ME. Therefore, Sue must have taken my information, provided it to the individual that I had the issue with, and proceeded to file a complaint against me. I still have not heard from her since. Skip the Dishes informed me that I was not allowed there again, and that if I did return or have another incident my position would no longer be retained.
I reported this incident to the Courier Success Team as well. They said it was noted and were waiting for a statement if I decided to put one in. I was allowing Sue, the manager, time to see if there could be a peaceful resolution. That, unfortunately, did not occur, and they filed a complaint before mine. Which is fine, I really am not concerned about the timing - their rashness is proof of their guilt in its own right.
I am more than willing to admit and apologize for when I make mistakes. But I see absolutely ZERO reason to tolerate the insecurities and accusations of a disgruntled manager who clearly was in the wrong. Especially when it threatens a piece of my livelihood - every option will be exhausted to make sure that justice is found.
I am thoroughly dissappionted in the professionalism of Boston Pizza North, the disgruntled manager who's name I still not know, Sue herself, and as well as Skip the Dishes for their assumption of my wrong doing without hearing my side out. This is not how adults should behave, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for allowing such a small scenario to blow out of proportion. For my own credibility, the truth had to be heard. I offered everyone the chance for peaceful resolution, a choice nobody seemed necessary to take.
Not only has Boston Pizza North lost a hard working courier, but also a faithful customer. My family would go to that exact location for family gatherings whenever we were able to. I always found the staff there pleasant to deal with, until I had to deal with the management team and their complete lack of ability to professionally handle a small conflict.
You can spend your money how you choose, but there are far better establishments in Red Deer that deserve your money. Try the south Boston Pizza locations :)
Thanks for hearing my story! Always treat people with respect.
Sincerely yours,
Chad McGhie

Read moreBP North most days 3.5-4stars...Usually come here quite often with business clients during peak hours. Tonite took the family here for a well anticipated meal as we all had a very busy day. 8:30 we were greeted and seated only 3 other people in the restraunt side and maybe 10 in the lounge area...Anticipating prompt friendly service and hot food due to how quiet the place was. After ordering we were all able to finish our beverages before anyone came back to check on how things were. We place our order with a starter of wings. Sitting accross from the take out window it appeared quiet there also only 2 pick-ups by clients/driver. Went to the lounge to search for Coral our server, she was bringing orders to a table there. Several minutes later another server brought our order to the table 9:25. We asked about the starter..she ran back to get it and apologised. While we began our meal we had overheard other apologies to a lady at the take out counter. Then Coral came to see how everything was. When we honestly indicated slow...and cold she advised us that it was not. Funny how she knew that yet had not even tried the food? Rather than another so sorry for that she agreed with a terse"Alright". The Manager then came over to see how things were, we were honest and said not that great. She too apologised and offered to take the wings and cold Pizza of our bill. We decided, they did their best. Later when we went to pay we noticed that the wings were off the bill and the Pizza still charged out. Obviously the manager did not communicate that to Coral. When questioned we received an apology yet again. She asked what else she could do...frustrated we paid for our meal less the wings and left. She asked me to fill out the BP survey to let them know how to do better. That we will do, the review that we're posting now is to hopefully allow the ownership of how endangered their business is with experiences like we have had tonight. I'd shudder to think what the service would have been like if they were...
