China Ben — Restaurant in Red Deer

I love it here. The food is SO GOOD! I have not had the buffet but I can assure you, the food off the menu is some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. My husband and I ordered the dinner for 4 with the intentions of taking half home for the kids. The meal started with wonton soup. Then they brought us an egg roll. Egg rolls never usually impress me but this one was great! I almost ate the ones I promised to bring home for the kids. Next came out chicken balls. Now I usually hate these doughy concoctions with the tiniest piece of meat in the middle that you have to take 2 bites to find. I cut one of China Bens in half and it was 95% Chicken!!! I suddenly ate more than my quarter (screw the kids). The ginger beef was tender yet had a crunch on the outside and was so delicious. You didn't bend your fork stabbing it. Lemon chicken was again, so great. But one thing they brought out was mini corn, mushrooms and beef in a sauce. It didn't look overly appetizing but I always try everything. So I dug into this dish and it was AMAZING! I don't know what they put on it but I would order it any day. We had China Ben make and deliver food for our 100+ guest wedding! It was such a great experience the whole time! We contacted them a few months before to confirm and make sure this was something they were willing to do and they agreed! They were very easy to work with and checked in with us a few times about our food options. They delivered the food on time and all went well! I ordered pickup, and the person who took my order was polite and easy to understand. When I got there to pickup my Ford I had to wait at the front counter for 10 minutes before dinner came to see me. When I got home I was disappointed by the food quality. I have eaten at China Ben's before and there food used to be better. The sweet and sour pork, was more grizzle than pork, the ginger beef was mostly just a sweet beef, no ginger to be found. The beef and broccoli was a lot smaller portion then normal and there fried rice, very bland. Then, instead of fortune cookies, we got buns, very odd.
