My wife and I were really looking forward to this Valentine’s Day menu, expecting something close to O’Thym in Montreal, which we absolutely love. The price seemed reasonable, and the pictures and reviews gave us hope. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing…
We usually go to Le Coup Monte, but it’s overpriced, so we were hoping to find a great alternative. Sadly, the food here lacked depth, and the presentation was underwhelming.
• Beet dish with wine reduction and capers: Three ingredients. That’s it. No seasoning, no complexity. The beets were undercooked, the reduction lacked balance, and there was no contrast in texture. Adding some cheese crumble or enhancing the sweetness of the reduction could have saved it, but as it was—just terrible execution. • Again, the Tuna dish same problem. Every dish felt like it was missing that extra 1-2 ingredients to elevate it. The fish had no seasoning, making it completely forgettable. • Roast chicken was okay, but that’s the problem—it was just okay. Nothing stood out, no creativity, nothing that felt like a refined dish you’d expect in this kind of restaurant. • Pavlova is my favorite dessert, and while it was decent, it followed the same theme—too simple. No layers of complexity or contrasting flavors to make it memorable.
I felt bad the whole time because I was expecting a gastronomic experience, but the meals never delivered. It was bland, uninspired, and lacking creativity.
We’re still curious about the regular menu, so we might give it a second shot. But based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for their...
Read moreSpent 2 hours having dinner. This place was well reputed and we were excited to come.
The wine choices were amazing. I especially loved my bubbly, refreshing and fizzy yet dry and delightful. However, the food were not that great. We decided to try their entrees. Ordered sea snails ( bourgots) , lamb and fois gras. Plus bread and provincial butter on side.
Herbs tasted metallic and tart. All pretty blain and lack flavour. Some use of fresh flavourful herbs would be great.
lack flavour or miss the ball on the consistency of the cheese and fois gras, it was quite a disappointment. Perhaps the real chef was not there last night!!
Overall, not a great food tasting experience but the waiter was very enthusiastic and friendly. But no amount of dancing around and...
