La Riva Grill — Restaurant in Richibucto

I’ll start by saying I haven’t been into the restaurant side of La Riva, only the Cafe. I ordered takeout from the restaurant and it was quite good! 3 orders of classic poutine - good size, taste, and price. I don’t know about anything else from the restaurant side.

The cafe has nice drinks! And a large selection as well, especially given the size of the cafe. The prices are a little steep, but I wouldn’t say any more so than other specialty coffee shops. It usually takes a little bit to get your drink, but I think that’s partly because there’s only one person on staff any time I’ve been. The food in the cafe is nice as well, again, a little high in price but not out of line by any means.

The atmosphere of the place is nice, but it’s a little barren. It feels like it needs something to make it more inviting and aesthetic. Maybe some are or table top decor? I’m not quite sure, but it’s a little cold, in both the restaurant and cafe. The cafe is a bit better however.

Really, really good seafood! We started with small Caesar salads, which were good, then my husband and I each ordered the seafood combo 1, which included haddock, shrimp, and bay scallops. I ordered my fish batter-fried and my shrimp and scallops grilled, with sweet potato fries on the side. My husband ordered his shrimp batter-fried, grilled fish and scallops, with the regular fries. The orders came with three scallops, three shrimp, and a 6-ish ounce filet of haddock. We also had the mussels appetizer. Alllll of it was wonderful! The server was warm and friendly, and spoke English and French. She took her time to ensure our order was correct, and we felt well cared-for. Will absolutely return when we come...

So we went to Rexton and had to drive through Richibucto. Inside was modern but rustic and the service was welcoming and more than a smile. I felt the love. I ate the cherry cheesecake with a vanilla latte. Let me tell u the flavour merge together so well I stomp my foot. Them I bought the seafood special with Cesar and the Philly steak pouting. Again my hubby doesn't share but he had to try mine and had to let me try his. We traded and trade and had to write this review..... more...
