I'm working a job site near the store and I like the food since I was a regular at the VM store. The first time I entered the store no one was inside and 1 employee at register and probably 1 inside cooking. I ordered and waited for 56min wasted my hole lunch time just for 3 burgers, wings, and popcorn chicken. The food was good and the service was super friendly and apologized like 9 times for multiple delays poor fellow it wasn't his fault 1 cook and him answering calls, greeting walk in customers, and serving food to us. He had 3 job titles. The next day I went to church chicken and ate their so I wouldn't waste my time. The next day I called ahead of time 30min to be exact went in and waited for another 30min. I was like that makes no sense the store has only 1 table seated but I saw 2 delivery services come in and had tons of food and I said makes sense now and yet two jobs were added to the cashier because the bread delivery guy came in from the front door for some reason instead of the back and talking guy while he's on the phone and 2 customers waiting. Feels like TV show not a restaurant so understaffed poor guy had five jobs safe to say I'm gonna go to church's chicken for the next 3 month or somewhere else. This is on management not employees. I attached a photo showing the guy talking on the phone, dealing with 2 customers and receiving stock. Hope this review gets someone to fix the situation. If the front desk employee quits and the new guy I saw last time who was left alone with barely any training leaves then who covers that shift like a new employee was left alone with barley enough knowledge to operate the cash register. Someone must be by his side for at least a week helping him learn the way the place runs. He apologized so many times for the inconvenience I felt bad even though I only asked once how long is the food gonna take.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Toppings for a few years, primarily frequenting their Vaughan location before it closed. It used to be an incredible spot for halal pizza and wings—great food, reasonable prices. Recently, I decided to try out the Richmond Hill location, but unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to what it used to be. While I understand the increase in prices due to inflation, what really stood out was the drop in quality. The pizza, though still good, was nowhere near as delicious as I remembered, and the portion was noticeably smaller. The real letdown, however, was the wings. We ordered two pounds, but it turned out to be a huge regret. The taste was off—almost like reheated chicken, or something I can’t quite put my finger on. The three of us usually finish our meals, but we couldn’t get through these wings. It was honestly disappointing. No one came by to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. The lack of attention added to the overall poor experience. I’m not sure if we just got a bad batch, but this experience has left me uncertain if I’ll be returning.

Toppings became quite well known in the Richmond Hill area because they advertised Halal food. But inspite of this I decided to try it out. And was pleasantly surprised. Their pizzas (thin crust) are quite edible, their poutine (halal?) is tasty and their wings salt and pepper with Thai Chilly sauce my personal favourite. So dont let the halal label throw you off. They are quite good. Strangely my experience today was not to my liking. When I requested the new staff member ( a lady) to give me some chilly flakes she made a face and then brought me a half teaspoon of them. This is strange because they normally give me a large table spoon of it. I requested some more but was outright refused and reminded that this was being given to me free of charge!! Oh yeah? Some one should tell this lady that nothing is given free of charge. It is all billed into the main item. Shall definitely avoid this place from this day onwards, specially if the same staff member is on duty.

I had previously written about my experience but then took it down b/c I thought I over reacted and it was a isolated incident, but clearly from these recent reviews it was not.

I was part of the youth group at JCC, and during ramadan we held a daku night, where the youth spend the night doing a activity, with food. We had made reservations at Toppings for this night at a specific time. When we got to the restaurant our tables were given away and we had to wait outside in the bus for over an hour for our food, and at this point we were pretty frustrated. Once the food arrived as a joke I said to the others, "you guys will get your food if you leave a review that the food takes long to make". To continue the joke that’s what I did, giving Toppings a low rating and writing, "the food takes long to make and the owner is low-key rude". I wrote the owner (Imtiaz) was low-key rude b/c when the other youth group leader went in to ask why the food wasn't ready he got into an argument with the owner. I left the review and that was it, I forgot I had even wrote it because it was meant to be a joke.

A few days later I went back to the restaurant to pick up food for my family during Ramadan, it was already ordered I just went to pay and pick it up. When I got to the restaurant I waited by the counter, and a few minutes later the owner comes up to me and says “why would you do that.” I was confused as to what he was talking about and I said “what?” He then said “why would you leave a bad review and come back here”, I was caught off guard and didn't even know how to reply, so just stayed quiet.

(On a sidetone, when thinking about this interaction more, if someone does have a bad experience once and leaves a bad review, why can’t they go back to the restaurant and try the food again. In fact, going back again would be good for the restaurant, because perhaps someone’s perception would be redeemed, and overall it is still money for the business.)

So then the owner asks me if I paid yet, I said yes I did. To be clear, this was going on while other customers were present. He then says “ok im gonna give you back your money and you can leave you're not welcome here.” So he gave me my money and I left, I was completely in shock. It was really embarrassing and sad to be treated like that, especially during Ramadan and him being Muslim. If you do something like that, you're truly not a nice guy.

I am sorry you thought my initial review was not inappropriate, I shouldn't have done that and would have even removed it if you asked me when I came in, but instead of demonstrating care for your customer’s experience and asking “why did you write that? what happened,” you kicked someone out. That was not the...

I went with a group of 6. I made a reservation, but they couldn’t find it. But even so, they found us a table in a booth and we’re apologetic about it.

We ordered a deluxe topping medium pizza with a thin crust for the table (really tasty). Each of us also ordered our own entree: a regular burger (not overdone. Just right!), a homicide burger (spicy but didn’t make the mouth too hot), bacon cheese burger (done well but not overdone), grilled chicken poutine (perfect for our picky eater who ate more than he normally does!), spare ribs (thinly sliced, flavourful and tender) and bbq honey garlic wings (flavours nicely balanced).

We have never been to a restaurant where everyone was absolutely satisfied with their food! All of us enjoyed our food and the portions were big enough that we were able to share.

The customer service was great. Server came to check on us several times and each time we asked for something, she was back quickly with what we needed. The food came in a short time, so we didn’t have to wait long (we were starving).

As we were leaving, our server surprised our kids with lollipops and a smile. They were really happy.

We are already planning a...
