My experience has been excellent. I've been here about a handful of times now. Let's start with the obvious because some of the lesser reviews do not give you proper context. Google (and some people) will generalize this to Persian, which is a broad group of similar, popularly generalized as kebab. Thank you to some who clarified, this is Iranian. I knew this, I asked them on my first visit, but forgot.
I'm Vietnamese, and even I might be offended if you generalized all Viet restaurants since food from different regions across Vietnam is different. You need to be able to appreciate it for what it is - this family's rendition of food from the region they're from. We all know, even you and your neighbour (back home) cook the same dishes differently.
So let's start by saying thank you to this family for sharing. It's part of what makes Toronto such an awesome food city. You don't like this one, like some others say, just try another "Persian" restaurant within a 10km radius. This place is a definite go back and support them more type of restaurant!
Most all of us who try this place will say the food quality is excellent. The meat's well seasoned, properly cooked, juicy, and yes, does not come with "sauce". I haven't been to Iran, cannot comment on various parts, but I have coincidentally been to a few Iranian restaurants, and can say from those, they don't typically give a "sauce" with the meat. What they'll usually give you to ensure you're not complaining about things being dry is the roasted tomato that you'll mash in with the rice to make it a bit more aromatic. And sprinkle on the sumac to give you a little of that citrus hit. Like another reviewer said, it'd be great if they threw in more tomatoes for free if you ask, or that roasted pepper. That's delicious too! The rice is always well cooked. If you're ordering the platter, they'll throw a slice of naan at the bottom to soak up the juices - this ends up being quite tasty.
Service is always friendly; I've never had a problem. I'm guessing some of those negative reviews maybe caught the staff at a bad moment, or maybe it's just what it is. But in my experiences now, I've never noticed anyone being rude, or curt, or anything negative. They're usually polite and smiling. =) They can only see my eyes smiling as I'm always wearing a mask.
They take credit card, which is good, and parking is easy. I've never been there when it's crazy busy, so wait times are never too bad. Like many other Persian restaurants, they don't seem to grill up the meats in advance to speed up your order time, but that also means your meats aren't dry. Be patient, and enjoy the delicious food. I've ordered the plates, and the platters, and so far so good.
Keep up...

—- This is my first time trying this restaurant and I be honest, don’t have much experience on this style cuisine. From reading other reviews, it’s Persian but not 100% sure but anyway, most importantly, it’s the quality of the food.
This place is clean and simple and relaxing and the service I find is very friendly. You need to order at the counter first and the person who took our order is very friendly and patient with us since we are new and we ask questions in deciding what to get. We ended up ordered the crunchy rice, chicken leg kebab plate and also the shallot yogurt as recommended by them. :)
The food came and they also gave us a rich complimentary barley soup which is quite tasty with tomato/tangy flavour and with some thick gesture like the rice congee . I liked it.
The chicken kebab was nicely grilled and very juicy and I really enjoyed it. And goes pretty good with the yogurt too. Not sure if I am suppose to have the yogurt with the chicken but tasted quite good with it and I also use the yogurt to eat my salad with it instead of the original dressing.. why not if my taste buds tells me it’s ok ..
The crunchy rice is also very good too. Crunchy rice on the outside with ground beef inside. Quite interesting to try! Very yummy dish and I think the eggplant (?) on the side goes very well with the crunchy rice. And also taste so much better with some shallot yogurt as well! With it, the rice doesn’t taste as heavy/fatigue. In the dish, there is also some chips (guessing it is chips) and it is quite crunchy but abit salty though but that’s a very small part of the dish and no big deal to me at all.
I had a nice experience this time and the food is yummy for the asking price. I don’t know how the food is suppose to taste like but I am loving it!! Definitely will come back...
Read moreWe recently celebrated my son’s birthday at Village Kabab and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant had a cozy, authentic feel, with beautiful Persian décor and a comfortable layout that made it perfect for a family celebration.
Now, let’s talk about the food—it was simply phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was packed with rich, authentic flavors. The kebabs were perfectly grilled, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, The rice, topped with saffron and crispy tahdig, was a standout on its own. We also tried a few appetizers, like the creamy hummus and fresh Shirazi salad, which were equally delicious. The portions were incredibly generous, and we found ourselves happily packing up leftovers to enjoy the next day.
The service was another highlight of the evening. The staff was attentive and friendly, always checking in to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially given the quality and quantity of food we received. It’s rare to find a restaurant where you get such excellent value for money. We felt like we got much more than what we paid for, both in terms of the food and the experience.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Village Kabab enough. Whether you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or just want to enjoy an amazing Persian meal, this spot delivers on all fronts. We’re already planning...
