we have been customers at the richmond hill Wimpy's for many years, know all the waitstaff etc, and have never had a negative experience....until today. We came in during shift change, Kelly gave us menus, served us our drinks and told us her shift was over and that one of the other girls was about to start her shift and would take over our table. Diba came in about a minute later while we were looking over the menu. She came and took our order, pleasant as can be, and put our order in to the cook. While our food was being prepared, a rather loud verbal altercation started behind the counter between Kelly and Diba, about Kelly not completing her work and leaving it for Diba to do on top of her own duties for her shift. Diba asked Kelly why she has to finish Kelly's work every shift. Kelly said straight out, that she had left it on purpose, and was being quite rude and ignorant to Diba, to the point of threatening Diba's employment status, saying Diba "won't be working here by the end of the year and that Brenda( another of the waitstaff who wasn't even working today) should be fired too. I realize arguments between employees at any job happen, however, not only was this one out in front of customers, it was taken way beyond the original disagreement over duties done/left for others to do, and taken into the realm of personal attack. By law, no employee is allowed to treat another employee in this manner, creating a hostile work environment. Kelly should be held accountable by the employer for the verbal abuse and threats to her coworkers.
After Kelly left, Diba, to her credit, did not let the altercation change her manner with customers. She continued in her duties and took care of customers with a bright smile and friendly demeanor( Thank you Diba) and our food was delicious as always...
Read moreOne of my worst experiences in a restaurant. I remember coming here 10 years ago and enjoying the food but the food was barely palatable. I had a poutine which was not even mediocre. I would have rather got one at McDonaldâs or Burger King. The corned beef hash eggs Benedict was even worse. The corned beef just tasted bad, hollandaise sauce had an unexplainable weird taste and there was a lot of water that came out when I cut into the poached eggs. Iâm not one to waste food but I could barely eat half of it and I left still hungry. The servers here are also extremely rude. After being seated for about 10 minutes a server walked by and I said âexcuse me, whenever youâre ready we are also ready to orderâ she replied saying âokay youâre going to have to wait your turn, youâre the last personâ. Thatâs not the way to respond to someone who is simply notifying you that theyâre ready to order and specifically saying âwhenever youâre readyâ because of the food and the service me and my cousin obviously didnât tip. The server had the audacity to say to my cousin âyou go to a restaurant and donât tip?â I will not be coming back here again and if anyone even mentions this place as an option to eat I will tell them exactly how the servers treat...
Read moreVisited on a Monday around 1:00pm with a friend for lunch. I ordered the "Beef Dip & Swiss" which is described as having "au jus to dip".
The waitress (Kelly) brought our meals but no dip -- I was about to ask about it when she plopped down a small bowl of gravy and walked away before I had a chance to say anything. And then she never came back! No "how's your meal", no "would you like a drink refill" etc.
When she came to clear our plates, I mentioned that I'd been served gravy and no au jus. Her response? "Well the cook doesn't know how to make it"! Are you kidding me?!!??
I asked why I hadn't been told that -- and that I would have ordered something else if I'd known! Au jus is what makes a beef dip a beef DIP! No response.
I told her that if she'd ever come back to check on us, I would have let her know sooner. She said she hadn't had a chance because it was busy. My friend and I literally laughed out loud. In addition to us, there were 2 other customers in the entire place.
She then asked if I wanted a discount. To be clear, she didn't offer one but only asked if I wanted one. I said...
