Au Pain Gamin — Restaurant in Rivière-du-Loup

In the past it was our favorite spot on the drive from Halifax to Montreal but this visit was beyond bizzarre. Many items unavailable then the server said something to us that was so strange, inappropriate, and wholly unexpected that I cancelled our order and left. Was tempted to go back or write the business a letter. Felt like perhaps the business was sold or had given up or has had an unfortunate change of staff etc. May pop in again next year to see if this was just a temporary thing because in the past we found this place a feast...

Fantastic! Fantastic! Could not recommend more. The biscotti and croissant we had were perfection. They also have coffee, and had non-dairy options available. The staff were very friendly, the gentleman that served us (I believe he's the owner) was multilingual - he helped us in English, and helped another gentleman in Spanish! The interior is cosy, has local art prices on display. There is street parking through the town, but we had traveled in a camper van, and parked a couple blocks down at a big public parking lot, and walked...

We were here last year and on our first day when we discovered the bakery we had the most delicious almond croissant along with a fantastic coffee. On the second day after munching on our croissants the wonderful proprietor of the bakery sweetly announced that they made bouillabaisse soup for the first time. Now I truly was in heaven and it was as close to authentic as I have tasted in a long time. Well we are back and this year and I hope the soup and croissants are still...
