Located close to the ski hill, this place is usually crowded. We had a large group, and called ahead at 6:30. We arrived at 7PM and were given the back party room, and told a 15% gratuity would be added, but would have to be out by 9pm. 15%, is fair, for a group our size, and we were all glad to pay it, for such a wonderful space. Super friendly waitress, served us all. 18 of us, and one waitress. She sat us all, and then told us, that the kitchen was backed up, and orders would take about 50-60 minutes. We were ok with it, if they were. We ordered drinks, which took about 30 minutes, with one waitress. We ordered appetizers as well. Once all was delivered, by same single waitress, we all placed orders, the majority of us ordering pizza. The ordering took another 15 minutes. at 7:50, she came back in, and told us that they had 1 pizza left, and wanted us all to re-order. At this point I felt bad for the girl. We changed it all to gluten free, to make it easy. They gave us an appetizer for our trouble. 45 minutes later, pizzas started coming out, all but one. Granted it was on gluten free crust, but all of agreed, worst pizza ever. super dry, lack of toppings(2" of crust on a 12" cracker) Nobody ever got a drink refill, but they didn't kick us out at 9pm. Moral of the story, poor management, and planning on their part. If they would have just said no to the reservation, it would have saved everyone a nightmare. This is not the first time I have been there, but I think it will be the last, since previous visits, have been long kitchen times, for basic food. Place looks great, and has a great location. BTW, it's 19CAD for...
Read moreUnfortunately, we never got to sample the food here. Three of us went on a Thursday night in Febuary, for a 7pm reservation we had made. The place was full, which we expected - it's one of only a few places to eat near the ski hill. But they had no record of our reservation. Luckily, a table of six were just leaving, so we took half the table, and shared it with three gentlemen who were also waiting for a table at the bar. We ordered right away, as we wanted to catch a later shuttle back to the hill, where our accommodation was. An hour later and we still did not even have our starter (just wings). We asked to speak to the Manager, who gave us nothing but lame excuses. She noted that we were, "from Ontario", so expected faster service. NO! I spent 30 years in the military and have lived all over Canada, including many years in BC. This was not an issue of where we lived; it was an issue of poor service. We refused to pay for our one drink, and left without ever having gotten even our starter. The server we had was very good, and apologized profusely as we were leaving. The Manager was ridiculously ineffective at providing any level of customer support. When we left, the other three guys at our table had still not received their food, which they had ordered from the bar well before we had arrived. Go elsewhere if you want to eat. Can not...
Read moreThis pub is a gem. We took a road trip to Rossland from Nelson and decided to have some lunch. We looked at some restaurants in the area and my wife found the Rock Cut Pub.
This pub was excellent. It's a little off the beaten path, on a little hill and up a dirt road. The menu was fantastic, the food was terrific, and our server Paige (sp?) was so nice. She made some excellent recommendations for drinks and food. Ultimately I ordered a club sandwich and my wife ordered the Thai Veggie wrap. We loved our food and the beer battered fries.
This pub just so clicked with our tastes. They had dark stout on tap and served the fries with malt vinegar and their own homemade spice. I ordered a Caesar to drink and it was wonderful.
I highly recommend the Rock Cut Pub. If we are ever in the area again, we will...
