Large portions were good, too bad the food was NOT. Our Order Mushroom egg fried rice: was so dark/burnt (Way too much soya sauce, and had a odd flavor. This was not good....
Pineapple chicken: Was deep fried chicken nuggets with a yellow sauce with little flavor Not a bit of pineapple to be found.
Beef and Broccoli: Had so much carrot and celery added to it.
Chicken Lo Mein: The thin noodles were all paste and clump stuck together, I don't think this was a fresh made dish, seems like the noodles had sat a long time or over cooked. Sad as this is my personal fav dish.
Chicken balls with the request for the sweet sour sauce to be on side. These were good. however the sauce was thick and not what we are use to in a nice sauce. And guess what, yep, sauce was on them...
Phone in order said it would take 40. I asked for total and the girl could not provide this information... I showed up on time to watch my order be packaged and unpack, checked then repacked and an item had to be made to add to... So I spent 20 minutes waiting... Oh in getting home to find we had an extra small container or steamed white rice we did not order. Sorry for that I guess. P.S The white rice is quite good I gotta give that.... $103.00 dollars was a waste.... Was the first chinese food place to try since moving to the area and it was a big disappointment...
Read moreUPDATED FOR FEB 2025: Quality and speed both seem to have tanked. Was told 25 mins for pick up, but waited an extra 25.
Got the food, it's not I expensive - 2 people eat for $50 without the taxes. The Chinese veg was flavorless and was almost entirely soggy cabbage, a couple of way-too-large broccoli hunks and a singular carrot slice. Chicken balls were nice. Rice was fine. Egg rolls tasted... weird. They're floppy, undercooked and taste weird and not good.
Their quality has slipped. I cannot recommend this anymore.
EDIT: Below was a review from around 1-2 years ago. Doesn't really apply as much now but keeping as a reference point for current review. Original rating 3 stars. It was fine. Its okay, not super great quality though. Tasty, checks off the items and the gluten free combo is a great value and awesome item that makes it possible for my partner to even be able to have chinese food, however I usually find that the beef and broccoli / chinese vegetables are EXTREMELY salty and over-cooked and the sweet and sour sauce is a bit sickeningly sweet and congeals really badly...
Read moreLinn Chau used to be good (ordered more than 20 times from there) but is now consistently the opposite. The food is just gross...we don't even want the credit for our meal. It's borderline inedible. The prices are way up. Loads of filler (my Kung Pao chicken is nothing but limp, luke-warm celery). Zero flavour.
If phlegm colored goo that tastes like corn starch over unidentifiable, greasy, re-deepfried balls for $80 is your idea of a good night's take out then Rothesay Linn Chau is place for you. If you expect to be impressed for your $80 then save your money and find a cleaner joint. Read the Trip Advisor reviews for a laugh!
As a funny aside, the owner insisted that I drive back in the rain to prove that the food was as disgusting as I claimed. I did. He offered no apology and through it in the garbage where it belonged.
Now if I can just find a way to get the taste of cornstarch, unchanged fryer oil and cheap soy sauce out...
