If you're searching for the ultimate hot dog experience, look no further than Skinner's on Highway 44. My family and I recently visited this charming eatery, and we were blown away by their "world famous hot dogs!" From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a treat.
My wife opted for the classic Smokie, and she was thoroughly delighted with her choice. My son, a young hot dog enthusiast, went for a straightforward yet satisfying hot dog with ketchup. His eyes lit up with joy as he relished each bite.
I, on the other hand, dared to take on the Super Dog with the works. And boy, it was truly a sight to behold – a colossal creation. The first bite was pure bliss, as a burst of flavors from the toppings melded harmoniously with the scrumptious hot dog at the core. It was indeed a challenge to finish, but every mouthful was a delight.
The hot dogs at Skinner's were not only delicious but also boasted a fantastic texture that set them apart from the rest. The buns were soft and fresh, perfectly complementing the savory fillings. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors and textures, making every moment enjoyable.
To accompany our hot dog feast, we shared an order of fries, and they were nothing short of excellent. Golden, crispy, and seasoned to perfection, they were the ideal side dish for our family meal.
Skinner's on Highway 44 truly is a haven for hot dog enthusiasts and families alike. We can't wait to return and explore more of their mouthwatering menu. Highly...
Read moreBeing from out of province we had never heard of Skinners. Came across it while driving by on a road trip to Banff. Well, I certainly can't resist going in for a "World Famous" hot dog, and 95 years in existence to boot! Just happened to hit it right at opening. Not another person in site. Is this a good thing? Absolutely love the atmosphere and vibe if the place. All the signage, memorabilia on the walls. The classic chrome tables and chairs, RED everywhere. I had done some reading on NIPS and Chips. It's on a sign outside, on a huge hand made menu board inside, so the first thig I did was to ask the server behind the counter "What are NIPS?" She didn't have a clue. I do understand that being as young as she looked would be the reason for her lack of knowledge on the subject, but working for this iconic restaurant, she should be practically brainwashed by management as the the type of dish it is, the origin of the dish and to have it all memorized to help sell the dish, especially to uneducated Ontarians like us. Putting that aside the hotdog I found was very good, my wife was not a fan. (she only likes hers burnt on the BBQ) We had the standard hotdog which coincidentally has the exact condiments both my wife and I put on our hotdogs. Mustard, relish and...
Read moreMay 21, 2023 edit. I am unable to reply to the owners lie here, but i was at Skinners River Road, with the Arcade, last week, and it was AMAZING in all aspects. I definitely left this review for Skinners HWY 44. Nice try, trying to pass the buck onto an amazing establishment to which you at HWY 44 will never compare. What a greasy lie lol*
Please be sure to avoid this place, and eat rather, at Skinners on River Road, make that turn off 44, away from Skinners 44. The prices are fair at River Road the food is delicious! No comparison. *
I'm very dissapointed. Enough to leave a review. It's just not the same as it was before. The service, the speed, the prices, the food quality.
The details of my experience are sickening and so for sure I won't be back.
Rude woman the owner was, they microwave their gravy and you'll get it served cold, and by the time you get hot food, the rest of your food is cold and you won't get a refund of the same amount that you paid but a flat, lesser amount because the owner was too looped to do math.. Maybe that's why she was rude? Idk, I'm still hungry.. Not pleasant. This is NOT...
