I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent experience I had at the McDonald’s on Shelbourne. What was once a well-run and welcoming location has unfortunately deteriorated in quality, professionalism, and overall atmosphere.
To begin with, the food I received was poorly prepared — burgers were smashed and sloppily assembled, far from the quality I used to expect from this store. It looked rushed and careless, not up to McDonald’s standards.
Additionally, the staff appeared unprofessional. There was little regard for customer service, and I noticed most of the team communicating only among themselves in Tagalog, which can feel isolating for customers who don’t understand the language. While I respect all cultures and languages, a professional work environment — especially in customer service — should encourage inclusive and clear communication.
What stood out even more was the store manager — she was not in uniform, wore no name tag, and looked more like someone working from home than a leader managing a team in a global brand’s branch. This lack of professionalism reflects poorly on the entire store.
This location used to be a great example of diversity and teamwork, with a staff that was engaged, presentable, and attentive. Now it feels more like a disorganized outlet with minimal oversight, far from what I expect from McDonald’s — especially in Canada.
It’s genuinely disappointing to see how far this store has declined. I hope McDonald’s takes this feedback seriously and considers retraining staff, enforcing proper dress codes, and encouraging a more professional, customer-focused work culture.
Hence, you should thank me for taking the time writing you this review. I hope you...
Read moreThe renovations are now complete. All the TVs have been removed. The 2 storey play area is gone, instead there is a smaller play area on the second floor. The second floor now only has one washroom for both men, women, and accessible. Because the play area is now on the second floor, there is less seating. The good thing is that every bench seating has a power outlet with 2 power plugs and 2 usb plugs. The second floor no longer has a napkin dispenser. The main floor now has widely spaced seating. The seating areas beside the windows each have power outlets with 2 power plugs and 2 usb plugs. The bar stool style tables near the kiosks also have the power outlets with 2 power plugs and 2 usb plugs -- under the tablet on the side facing away from the kiosks. All the bench seats and movable chairs are now hard surfaces. The floors are now wooden. There is now only 1 self serve drink dispenser. The self serve area only has ketchup - no more stuff for hot drinks (no stirr sticks, no sugar), no salt, no pepper, no vinegar -- you need to ask for it when you pick it up. There is also table service -- you get a number and the food is delivered to your table. The toilets have been updated to sensors to flush, but there is a small button (on the wall located under the sensor) to manually flush. The kiosks still have problems printing receipts. The screen to show the number for service is warped since you can't see your number, you can only see the now...
Read moreSHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! IT IS NEVER OPEN ANYWAYS. Since I made my first review this location has been "CLOSED" when I get there multiple times. Oh there are still people sitting at tables and eating but the doors are locked with a crude sign saying closed. IF YOU ARE 24HR BUT CANT EVEN HIRE ENOUGH STAFF TO KEEP A SKELETON CREW ON!?!?! MC Donald's is only getting hurt by this location staying open. Always closed early at night when it's supposed to be 24 hours. Absolutely horrible service what a joke. This place is an absolute nightmare. Please call the head office and complain until they change or the scrap the whole place. I wish I could vote this place ZERO stars. This McDonalds is a meme at this point. I haven't ruled out this MCdonalds is a cruel joke to punish the great people...
